Sophie Labelle Verville / Guillaume Labelle / Serious Trans Vibes Comics / Assigned Male / Candycore Comics / Pastel Sexy Times / WafflesArt - Obnoxious webcomics and horrific porn by a crazy fat pedo troon

IMO Sophie comes off as a native French speaker (well, Québecois I guess) who spent too much time in English-speaking SJW circles. Since she never interacts with normal people who don't give a fuck about terrible anglicized neologisms anymore she just sort of forgot how to speak her mother tongue.

I mean, "la ségrégation genrée est humide"? That's already gibberish in English but it's even worse in French, what the fuck. It doesn't mean anything.

Meanwhile the whole "moi aussi" thing looks like an example of casual French speaking... but with an English-type sentence structure. She took "Sick! I want to be my own secret friend too!" and sort of literally translated it. Something like "Trop cool! Moi aussi je veux être ma propre amie secrète!" would sound roughly ten times less awkward, even though literally translated into English it'd be something like "So cool! Me too I want to be my own secret friend!"

"Assignée garçon" doesn't bother me too much though, French rarely uses "mâle" or "femelle" to describe humans in casual conversation and the only alternative I can think of is "assignée homme" ("assigned man") which sounds silly when you're talking about a baby/kid. Of course, it sounds silly anyway because no one fucking "assigned" her, she was born with normal, non-intersex genitals and it's beyond stupid to blame the doctors for not guessing she'd end up being part of a ridiculously tiny minority.

Just my two cents as a native French speaker.

What kin of French so you speak out of curiousity? Not trying to white knight or anything, but I know Canadian French inserts significantly more English words and grammar than other French dialects. I am not sure if she is using so much English that is mangled beyond belief though.

French from France, so I admittedly don't know much about Canadian French-specific things.
To be honest, I wouldn't say her French is completely mangled. It just tends to have this "I google-translated this from English" vibe (which might just be a Canadian thing, true) but considering the kind of person we're looking at here I wouldn't be surprised if the "spent too much time on Tumblr, forgot how normal French-speaking people talk" theory turned out to be true.

:powerlevel: Child of a French-Canadian. :powerlevel:

Take this information as you will. Mother went to English immersion school as a child. Moved down south with dad at 18. She soon had no discernible accent, and when she'd speak to relatives up north, she had to pause a lot as if to gather her thoughts on what to say. And her speech was littered with anglicisms. But the difference being is that she was spending a majority of her life in the southern states of the US and never once had to use her old French. Now, I cheated and took French in high school, scoring an A+ thanks to mom, but I was always corrected on my pronunciation, because I pronounced everything with a Granby accent. Instead of "I think" coming out as /Je pense./, I tended to "round" my vowels, such as "Ja pounce".

Maybe we should be taking a look at the French versions too. I mean as a few of us have said, a lot of the French makes little to no sense.

I think Labelle stopped making the French versions as the primary versions as soon as he realized where what language most of his readership spoke. Now I think he just puts out the non-English version for auld lang syne and just Google translates the text to save time.

I forgot to add, she's also an asshole to her French speaking fanbase.

Someone had pointed out on the English version of this page that Sophie had actually done two pages labelled 205 by mistake and she responded with "I was tired" or something along the lines of that (will need to check if it's still there). Someone else points this out on the French version and she bitches at them.

I checked the only few german pages of Assigned Male, to see if her german blows just as much as french (It's only the plot with getting to know Frank over the school project) and asside from using some words that don't really happen that often in german (for instance "nerdig" aka nerdy is not a term germans use) it is... surprisingly good.

This just makes her fuckups in french even more mysterious to me. Why is her german pretty much down on spot, but french, what I supposed her native language to be, not?

Wait. "J'ai le droit"? Yes, "I have the right", but isn't that right as in directional? I mean, wouldn't "J'ai la liberté" or "J'ai la pouvoir" be more appropriate? Yes, it's reeking of Google Translate.
Droit refers to rights in that sense as well, not just directional. As an example, The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms is even called La Charte canadienne des droits et libertés in its official French version.

Because she got an external source (a German fan of AM) to translate the German ones.

It's really hard to analyze your own native language's grammar and structure. It's like trying to analyze in detail why you jerk your knee after a doctor whacks it with a mallet. Anyone in the armed services probably has a story about a native Spanish speaker failing the Spanish proficiency test on his ASVAB, and I can tell you personally that everything I know about English grammar I learned from studying Latin.

"J'ai le droit" is fine. But holy fuck does she sound like an asshole. Someone points out a mistake? "UM I'M ALLOWED TO HAVE TWO PAGES 205, YOU NUMERICALLY-ABLED SHITLORD!!!"

And of COURSE she does that "(adjective).e" shit that makes zero sense, why am I even surprised? How do you even pronounce that shit? "gai-point-e"? It's sandrat all over again.

Other than that the French is understandable/even appropriately casual in parts, really... but man, I can't shake that "I haven't interacted with a normal human being in years" vibe. I mean sure, sometimes the French is accurate from a technical standpoint... but it still doesn't sound like anything a real flesh and blood person would say.

Found the comment I was on about earlier. Had to screenshot the entire thing for context, so there's a shitload of other comments (including the "kids being kids" one I posted a few pages back).

Forgot to mention, Labellend, you're not making the group you advocate for look any better.
Being a snarky, condescending, perverted, selfish, self-absorbed, pedo-like insecure bag of dicks isn't going to help the image of trans people to any government.
I believe that is a recent change, namely because:

Everything that is a bit older is generally signed with "Assignée garcon".
Maybe it's butchered french and people told her it would be better to change? I can not say.
Wow! The hormones were strong enough to make Guille unlearn his (alleged) native language!
Did his basic knowledge of language get dumped out of his brain for more tumblrisms?

New poster, @Hat

Hoo boy, where do I start...Sophie fully confirmed for only wanting to be "tran.s" not female, Sophie once again advocating for all children to be allowed hormones or hormone blockers whenever they want them, Sophie contradicting things she's said before, Sophie being a blithering idiot...

THERE ARE PEOPLE THAT TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY AND ALLOW HER TO TEACH CHILDREN!

The hell? So now she's saying that transitioning early is bad? Isn't that Stephie and Ciel's whole point: transitioning as early as possible is just the best?

Maybe that's why Stephie looks so pissed in the picture.
