I guess we are back. Previously blanked boards (I checked /ck/) look to be up. People are posting again. Literally every internet community just breathed a sigh of relief that they didn't have to get caught up in an onslaught of autism which would've happened guaranteed if the site stayed down much longer.

Its from a 2020 vice article in which supposedly a load of chatlogs of jannies leaked onto twitter and they managed to chat to a couple of current and ex jannies. Apparently its due to a jannie called "RapeApe" who ended up as chief janny under Moot and Hiromoot just let him carry on.
