It's truly amazing to behold isn't it. The extent of my animal husbandry is a dog and a cat. Yet it's patently obvious that letting an animal walk around covered in shit is probably, maybe, a bad idea.

I mean, if my doggo walked up to me and I saw crusted diarrhea all over her ass, well, its bath time for doggo. If my cat keeps jumping up on my bed and there is kitty caviar stuck to her butt because of the fur, well, its time for a trim pussums.

This is all of course common sense. Poop on the body is bad. Yet somehow this has not occurred to the tranchers. they are so oblivious they took a picture of their animals literally covered in shit and posted it on the internet.

I did have a similar though and went to go take a peek (was also looking to see if there was a pile of bodies in the ghetto barn, ngl), but the images on my version of Google Maps seems to be quite old. I couldn't even spot the aforementioned ghetto barn on it, so I'm not sure what the date was; I wonder how others have gotten more up to date versions?

One thing I did notice while scoping it out: iirc you used to be able to pull it up quite easily just by searching Tenacioud Unicorn Ranch as a location. They seem to have removed their associated address, since now the marker just gives you a generic location in the vicinity of Westcliff and you have to go locate it yourself.

No, it's Vitamim D and C deficiency, combined probably with drugs and alcohol. Since the Tranchers are at high elevation and are pale as fuck, they are probably forced to wear massive amounts of sunscreen to keep from frying in the glorious ultra violet rays of Sol. This also means their Vitamin D in take is at a nadir. Exasperated if they are not full castrate and taking Spirinolactone to keep their Testosterone down. Did they have the property overcrowded with starving livestock? Alpacas won't ordinarily eat down to the root (so by just rotating grazing area the vegetation has a chance to recover) but apparently they do when they're starving (killing the vegetation). Also they'd generally prefer grass (but even a verdant field would not have supported as many as these fucking idiots had).

I have a white “Faces of Meth” neighbor that has a scrapyard wasteland on his property. There’s literally a pit covered in tarps with a whole ass speedboat inside it. My family guesses he had a late-night meth epiphany and tried to determine if it was sea-worthy: Half-cannibalized vehicles everywhere and a bigass shipping container for the scrap he slowly pulls from all of them. The whole parcel looks like TUR, in that weeds don’t even grow there anymore and mud just sloughs off into the road every time it rains.

The only thing that ever got the county to give a fuck was the horse starving to death in their front yard. Animal Control came and seized it finally.

So it’s definitely not just Native Americans that live like this. It’s not “boo hoo poverty”, it’s dysfunction and drug abuse and mental illness. Yeah I actually worked it out at the time, it involves burning far more calorific value in gas than you get from burning the wood.

It's ridiculously dumb. A cord of firewood is like 4 x 4 x 8 ft of its all properly stacked. I don't know what they are driving but willing to bet it's not a long bed with all the wood nicely stacked. So chances are it's not a full cord. My wood guy probably took about 3 trips with a standard pickup bed filled just to deliver me one cord (granted it wasn't stacked, just tossed in)

Living in the mountains, in snow for a good 6-7 months. We aren't burning wood constantly (especially at the start and end of winter) but fairly consistently where we go through 4-5 cords in a winter since it's the only heating source I have. Mind you this is in a house with proper insulation so there are times during the day where we don't need to keep a fire going.

So driving 7 hours to deliver less then a cord to what is likely some shitty trailer in the middle of a rez is hilariously dumb.

Roughly the distance from DC to Boston, or DC to Columbia SC, or DC to Toledo.

Looks like you can buy a pickup load of firewood in Rapid City for ~$200. 90 miles away. And there are probably some good ol' boys a lot closer willing to meet or beat that price.

They'd have to have a 26-foot truck worth of wood or more to justify driving it there, and only if it was being bought at great savings. It would cost $250 or more in diesel to drive it, not to mention the bad optics of pointless carbon emissions involved. I don't even think it's a racket, so much as the ineptitude of the tranchers. They are terrible at farming, terrible at finances, so inevitably will be terrible at planning and logistics as well. Everything they do is wasteful on their best day.
