I like how he tries to posit some inherent difference between "intimidation/threats" and "bystander accountability" as if there aren't legions of his ideological fellow travelers who would consider it "bystander accountability" to publicly stalk, harangue, harass, intimidate, or threaten an accused Nazi/white supremacist/TERF. As if merely branding someone with a scarlet letter doesn't itself frequently "facilitate intimidation/threats", especially if you live somewhere like Portland or Oakland that has a high concentration of left-wing extremists.
Not to mention that even "unmasking" itself can often be
de facto doxing – nowadays simply a name and a city are generally sufficient to find all sorts of publicly available personal info, including street addresses, phone numbers, email addresses. A simple glance at a typical KF thread should be proof enough of that.
The most galling thing, though, is that the exact same argument can be applied, with a little tweaking, to Kiwi Farms. We only gather information that is publicly available, usually put on the Internet by cows themselves, and there's a strict policy of not interacting with cows in any way, not even for the ostensibly permissible purposes of "bystander accountability", which anyone who spent even a slight amount of time lurking here would know after seeing would-be cowtippers get down voted to oblivion.
But, no, KF is the den of transphobic white-supremacists stalkers who won't rest until every troon in the land joins the 41%, while Elliott is simply engaging in a bit of "bystander accountability" by calling the wives of ISP CEOs at their personal phone numbers at 6:00 a.m.
The sheer irony of it all is simply astounding.
Also, just to add, people post some pretty stupid shit on LinkedIn all the time but nobody does anything but hit like on it or whatever. I don't think I've actually seen an extortion attempt before and I'm sure you could report it but I bet most people who have Elliot as one of their contacts and actually bother to look at their feed even though it's always useless shit saw that longass gibberish shit and just scrolled past it. I don't think the guy it's targeted at is going to read it and be convinced if he's even on LinkedIn in the first place.
It also doesn't help him that the culture of LinkedIn encourages users to maintain a professional demeanor, or at least pretend to. The fact that it's meant to be a professional networking site keeps out a lot of the Twitter rabble from the get-go. There are IDPol and DEI grifters that engage in woke-posting here and there, of course, but it never seems to gain as much traction. I suspect even the wokest of the woke subconsciously realize that potential employers will be scared off if they come across as unhinged SJWs. Elliott's going to have a much harder time ginning up the outrage mob on LinkedIn than he did on Twitter.
These posts must be the greatest case of mental gymnastics and wordplay ever conceived. It's incredible, really.
It's like writing a whole-ass essay on why the color #ff0000 is extremely different to the color #fc0000 and how they are in fact total opposites!
He could give the old Scholastics a run for their money. I look forward to his upcoming essay dissecting the question of how many fursonas and headmates can dance on the head of an estrogen injectable.
