I wish these cunts would just shut the fuck up. They almost always mention going voluntarily out to brunch with their “ab00sive” parents after they’ve claimed to be “no contact” years later as adults which is the complete opposite of what that means and bonus points if they explicitly mention schrodinger’s boyfriend/husband.

No contact means the abuse was so severe that you cannot be a functional human being with those assholes and their sycophants in your life as an adult and they have actively showed they will never want to change.

Though redditors probably have a different definition for that term.

I homeschooled 5 kids without screens and I will never, ever feed other parents this bullshit. this isn't about hard vs easy. a parent alone with children under 5, with no household help and no relatives or close neighbors, gives up all privacy for years. You're going to poop with an audience or listening to screaming. You're going to be completely unable to maintain basic grooming standards. good luck "making community" when you can't go to the dentist or get a hair cut or sometimes even wash adequately.

also about how to find a woman who is willing to have children with you: this is sociopathic and I don't recommend it but it works. It's the pancake batch method: Knock up anybody at all, doesn't matter who. If it works out with her great, your first pancakes came out ok and you are done. But if she's crazy or if you're actually not a great guy and she gets sick of your shit or some combination thereof, and she leaves you, and you are now a divorced dad with part time custody? You will have your choice of motherly young women who will take over all your parenting responsibilities and give you more children. The second batch of pancakes is always better.

Obviously you shouldn't do this, but spend some time contemplating why it works.

Big difference between a TV and a smartphone. They can't take the TV with them. And there's always books, toys, things that engage the brain.

like the other poster said, this is why Mexicans have kids and white people don't, and it's also why the white people who do have kids are Mormons. if you leave everything to the individual nuclear family, those families will be smaller and rarer every year.

I like kids and I want people to have kids, but bullshitting people about what they're really getting into isn't pro-natalist. the freakouts that childfree people about how brutally hard it is to have children right now are slightly exaggerated and they're hysterical weirdos - however they are still significantly closer to the truth than you are. sure you're not going to see your kids starve or die of measles in the 21st century. but everything you do go through? you're going through it alone. raising children when you can't rely on your neighbors and your family is far away means important needs not being met, for both the adults and the children, day in and day out, every single day.

... how many showers are you taking, 70? Look It worked with me and I grew up during the transition into smartphones. Keep the phone away until their a teenager, even then, keep it just dumb enough so they don't get too addicted (nothing top of the line). I was reading books like crazy when I was young and even through high school because my dad kept the tech away from me. If I wanted to use the computer, I used the family computer, which keeps them out of trouble. I only got a laptop when I could pay for it myself. It teaches them to appreciate what they have, gets their reading comprehension up, and despite the name, a Ultra Magnus Transformer ain't going to groom em, in fact it'll help with engineering problems as I can attest with my welding.

To tell you the truth I was lol. I've been reading for a fucking long time and can't remember a time when I couldn't read. Give the kids a book, comics, graphic novels, kid friendly manga, hell a choose your own adventure book, the OG vidya!

My family didn't go nuclear till I was a teen. Not that my immediate family sucks, but having compared the before and after, I can say with full confidence that extended families should definitely be the norm.

So they find out a friend is infertile, but instead of offering sympathies, they use it to push their childfree stance on to everyone around them even when this is a COMPLETELY inappropriate situation to talk about it, and they don't understand why people are getting angry with them. That is some peak narcissism, even for Reddit; pretty telling that has almost 300 upvotes.
