If actually affecting politics is your jam, start attending local council meetings and paying attention to local school boards. You can have an outsized impact there since most people are so apathetic. And there’s someone you can usually yell at.

I love it when the show picks up, in leafland the government pays off the press and we don’t see politicians suffer even figuratively.

Not speaking for Lurk but my ideal would have been ouright not playing the game and never allowing a speaker unless republicans suddenly voted for Jeffrey or dems for McCarthy. Congress being crippled can only be a good thing with how retarded things are.

Now that they let it through and are irrelevant again? Well, either people notice that "interacting" with polititians seems to not be an issue when they have an R in their affiliation and take action accordingly or you voooote harder since there aren't much more options at the moment.

Now I'm sure you don't really care about their congressional fates but they do and if you want more malarkey like that then you want shit stirrers in the ranks. If they played ball too hard then they would lose party support and then later elections.

If McCarthy adheres to the supposed agreement then what they did has lasting effect for at least the current Congress. Nothing about this was irrelevant, they still exist and can be a thorn in the greater party's side.

That said, I am also pessimistic that we can rely on voting to get out of this madness but it's currently the least worst option that is the most realistic until things get even worse and there is more popular support for something more direct.

Its not "my" battle, its a dance choreographed by the US Deepstate. What goes on in Ukraine has ZERO consequences for the American population. Russia could conquer the whole country, salt every inch of the country, tear down every building and genocide every individual in the country and it would not affect the US population at all. If anything it would be a net positive as US agricultural products would have a greater demand. The "World Police" shtick has been a net negative for the average citizen and its only gotten worse because now the organs of the state are literally fabricating conflicts, both ISIS and the Ukraine conflict were spawned by the Obama administration.

I just don't see why he would comply. The same way Manchin ate dick I don't see why this would be any different, because honor and decorum stop being a factor once "the outsiders" enter the conversation. I do hope you are right and they achieved something if value, but I only see words.

Also, they are already fucked due to their stunt antway, "strike the king, throw scabbard yadda yadda", they won't last very long unless something big changes.

I would love for there to be a political solution and for it to succeed, when something happens in America it propagates to the rest of the world and I would oh so love something like that reached my feifdom. Hell, the existence of Trump gave some life to national populist movements, too bad I've yet to see ones that feel honest and not just retards/grifters.

Let’s be realistic, those concessions aren’t actually going to happen. Meanwhile moves will be made behind the scenes to fuck over Gaetz and other holdouts. Gaetz has already been put through the wringer so it won’t be as big of a deal for him but others like Lauren Hoebert probably aren’t gonna make it next election, especially since she barely scraped by in 2022.

Or all the various commitments made over the years about balancing the budget that get tossed out the window the moment Lockheed Martin needed to bolster their earnings.

I don’t know how earnest Gaetz and others were but I always enjoy this thread whining about doomers when the six gorillionth political stunt doesn’t actually move the needle and falls through in favor of business as usual.
