Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

Respectfully disagree. KOTOR 2 did a better deconstruction of the Star Wars than Ryan Johnson could ever hope for. He even stole the game's whole schtick of there being a last Jedi for his movie title.

I'll grant that the game doesn't really appeal in the same way that something like The Force Unleashed will, with high octane action. However, for me that was the precise appeal of the game. I loved losing myself in the roleplaying and world building.

In addition, it has my favorite female Star Wars character, Kreia. She has a very interesting philosophy outlined by this video (definitely not to your taste if you found the game to be a snooze fest but posted for anyone interested ITT):
Everyone's first playthrough is light-side, and she'll constantly rag on you for blindly being a goody two-shoes, making excellent points along the way. Usually, your second playthrough is dark-side and you'll be surprised to see that she treats your ruthless dipshit character with even more contempt than she does for a goodie two-shoes.

My favorite part about her character is she's even discourages meta gaming as you get more efficient at the game. Once you have a few playthroughs under your belt, you'll be tempted to make a min/maxed character that kills everyone possible and does as many quests as possible. The worst part is you need to take Kreia with you everywhere for her xp bonus and she constantly shits on you for all your decisions. This lines up perfectly with her philosophy of self-reliance because being over-leveled isn't a true test of your skill.
I don't think it's so much a problem with the quality of the story or characters per se as it is how those things are embedded in the game.

You do the interminable intro section only to leave on a ship and go right back to being a prisoner with restricted movement. Then you eventually escape in a ship and are immediately shot down. Then you go through a labyrinthian military base to find yet another ship... and are immediately shot down again.

It's one contrivance after another to put the player in a series of extremely boring dungeons that have no relevance to the characters or plot and feels distinctly like the devs are stalling for time.

When they're done, instead of being grateful, a soyfaced retard starts lecturing Duke about all the problematic language he used on the aliens, game ends with Duke's fist about to slam into the guy's face, before everything goes black and the theme plays.
Midway through the credits, have a shadowy shot of Leonard and Bubba recreating their favorite scene from Deliverance on the soyboy....."Hooooo EEEEEE, you kin squeal louder n that, boy!"

The worst part of The Last of Us 2 was a bunch of fat retards trying to gaslight me into believing Abby is what a natural woman looks like.

This is what all girls think they will look like if they go to the gym ONCE.
I like Clayfighter 63/3. I know it's a crappy fighter but there's something about it I just find endearing. Plus I find it funny people looking back and shitting themselves over how racist and problematic its characters are.

I miss these 'racist' carricatures.

They're funny cause they were honest and on point.

There was a cart racing game with all racist carricatures, lmao.

Mark Meer. My biggest problem with him was his voice was just way too high pitched and nerdy sounding. I didn't think he was a bad actor or anything.
I don't think either of them portrayed Shepard *great* or anything.

But Meers voice fit the weird cheesy dialogue of Shepard better than Hale to me. She just made Shepard feel like such a fake try hard, especially in ME2 and ME3 IMO

Nobody has ever explained what a non-racist caricature would look like
I always thought Square's Tom Sawyer had a pretty authentic portrayal of African Americans.

I don't know if this is unpopular because people disagree, or unpopular just because it's never been said (probably the latter), but I hate the higher difficulties of the Sniper Elite games, but not because they're difficult. The only thing you have at those difficulties is a HUDless interface, and a map that you can do fuckall with. There's no way to mark enemy locations or numbers, estimated distances or potential supply zones.

What I'm saying is that authentic mode would be much better if your character carried a fucking pencil around with him so you can put your own marks down on the map. I might actually feel bothered to continue past the first level of SE 4 if there were more simulator-like features at higher difficulties like that. As it stands it's just more frustrating than "authentic".

You could just keep a pencil and notepad on your computer desk. I use it a lot for mapping out city/factory layouts and doing math for optimizing production in logistics game. Also, it gives you an opportunity to work on drawing skills too.

Honestly, that would sound cool. Makes Duke the underdog in a world that enjoyed peace far too much and thus became weaker and ungrateful for Duke's actions, suddenly recontextualizing his victory over the aliens as "senseless slaughter" when they could have perhaps negociated with the aliens. Duke knows that is fucking bullshit but good luck convincing the major younger population of that.

Maybe he is still rich but not popular anymore. I guess we could have a small group of characters that still believe in Duke's actions and maybe they know of a new invasion and are seeking guidance of the only man that was able to stop them last time. It would be a good opportunity to explore Duke's character and the setting that is obviously taking inspiration from our current thankless society that has forgotten its heroes.
Old Man Duke has been something I think they should go with if they ever make a new game. Duke is exactly the same but older and mostly forgotten, the media won't give him exposure and people are generally tired of his shit. Young people think his quips and attitude is "cringe". Then there is an Alien invasion/Dr. Proton and Duke rushes in to get things done. Most civilians are initially hesitant to deal with him even in dire situations, they see him as a buffoon and a has-been. What woke tumblr tard would want to get saved by Duke Nukem? Their attitudes starts to change because he's still the real deal and during this adventure he does not grow one bit as a person.
He saves the day and now everyone has to grin and bear it. Gets a medal from the lady President on live TV, comments on her ass, no one can do anything.

Make it so that the women that bitch about toxic masculinity are the most attracted to him and you got a winner

While you're 100% right about how good the game is @Matt Damon is also right that the pacing is complete dogshit.

I'm the biggest KOTOR2 fan I've ever met but there are parts of KOTOR2 that drag on way too long (Peragus Mining Facility and the Mandalorian jungle come to mind) or have drastic balance issues stemming from trying to be too ambitious. Kreia absolutely carries the game but the pacing is absolutely one thing they did not have nailed down correctly..

Agreed.
I've backseated/watched my girlfriend play through both games on my PS4 for the last few weeks & TLOU 2 technically/gameplay-wise seemed pretty solid/fun.

Though Abby being a goddamn troon makes sense in a narrative sense.
Who else would waste time, resources and people to exact some revenge, when there's 1001 other, more important things to do. Only trannies would be delusional & feel entitled enough to do so.

The problem with Abby being either a tranny or a woman on T is where the hell are you going to get that stuff during an apocalypse. Even during the Covid mess there were troons whining about availability. Looks like if you have a full lab you might be able to pull it off.

I guess true and honest trannies will their real gender into existence with the same Cartesian mind/body dualist voodoo that's used to rationalize their existence in the first place.

I definitely think Abby's design was fueled by fetishism, but in the confines of the narrative, the WLF is shown to have a pretty well stocked weight room, and I doubt she missed any meals. Also, I might be misattributing where I heard/read this in the game but Abby is well regarded in the WLF as a Seraphite-murdering machine. Between the motivation for revenge and working out and practicing killing Scars, it would make sense for her to have an imposing physique. That and she's probably a Swede, so being built like a fridge was always in the cards.

All this to say that I don't think Abby's trans, she's just autistically dedicated to the gym.

i got a hot take but im not sure if anyone else has shared similar views yet…

cyberpunk is a masterclass in build diversity. you’re a brainlet with no creativity if you play it like a looter shooter. dont create a jack of all trades build. if you choose to be mediocre at everything, dont be surprised when your character feels mediocre.

I love KOTOR 2 but Peragus and all related to it is very overdrawn. The mystery the first time was interesting but it just kept going and going and going. A good amount you're solo during it which makes the combat feel even slower paced as its just Jedi Jesus vs whatever pack of robotic mongoloids are in his way. Then later its T3 .. then FINALLY you have a small party but by then I'm ready for it to be over.

If they reduced the faffing about by having the captured republic ship arrive earlier it would be a better experience, hell there's a lot of ways to I feel.

Its a section in the game where the mods to flat out start the game by dumping you into Telos station don't feel wholly undeserved. The first time doing it the experience is way, way, way too long in the tooth. The second or beyond its painful.

Worse Telos station isn't a real great continuation either but at least you have NPCs to talk to, places to go, shops to browse and the like. Compared to Peragus its much nicer but it still ends up having you schlep around the prefab buildings.

I cannot play Kotor 2 without the "skip Peragus" mod because of that. They really should have saved all that effort for the later levels like Dantooine or Malachor.

Every single thing I've ever heard about KOTOR 2 sounds awful, I swear

What kind of game has a popular mod that skips an entire portion? Holy moly
