Chance's perception of street racing is also highly romanticized & probably influenced by the Fast & The Furious franchise. I think it's for the best he remains a dirty attic goblin so he doesn't put people's lives behind in danger behind the wheels. Thankfully Sally by law is required to have insurance, and so does anybody driving in that state, but just because it's a law doesn't mean she would have to follow it. Cyraxx would have to be added to her insurance as a driver if she were to ever let him drive their car. This just means she probably has the bare minimum required limits.
The actual street car scene I feel would eat Cyraxx alive. When I go fishing, there's always those assholes who meet up and rev their engines obnoxiously late at night. It's just a bunch of hot blooded 20 something year olds trying to prove who has the bigger dick. Cops are out there pretty frequently. He would pick a fight with the wrong person and regret it.
I was discussing Cyraxx with a buddy, and he linked me to a Twitch.tv vod/clip of an actual professional participating in sim racing. This is what Cyraxx believes he does on a daily basis. Here's what to note, if it weren't painfully obvious already:
1) No bogus safety gear. It's a video game after all.
2) A decent computer.
2b) A decent computer entailing a GPU that can support what appears to be three 1920x1080 monitors probably running at 60hz. They could have different resolutions and higher refresh rates. I'm just basing this off the bog standard for vidya games on PC. The monitors appear to be curved as well, an extra luxury.
2c) Now as a quick caveat, the game certainly may look like it's jagged. This is probably caused by having the antialiasing setting on the lowest setting. A lot of professional vidya game players, whether is CSGO, Dota2, LoL, etc. Often play on the lowest settings possible for performance min/maxing and in an effort to remove any input lag. Chance's refurbished office PC more than likely has to run at low settings too, but at a choppy framerate and a risk of crashing (not just the application but also Cyraxx himself driving horribly).
3) Decent peripherals.
3b) These include actual headphones with a built in microphone. Also a decent racing wheel. Prices vary, and I don't think these guys would skimp out if they participate in tournaments. I can't identify the brand of headphones or racing wheel.
4) Skill. They know how to play and what they're doing. No crashes, no quitting, and no lag excuses.
5) Actual determination. They're not mindlessly making mediocre commentary as they race and making excuses if something goes awry.
6) Finally, they are (at least the guy on the bottom) accomplished drivers in real life. The guy on the bottom is,
Max Verstappen.
