I could never watch them, because I always made the mistake of tuning in while eating.I noticed Spaulding Decon in the OP, boy howdy, I haven’t thought about them in a while.

My Favorite Murder did a similarly toned episode on it as well.Since that god awful podcast Morbid was mentioned, I should tell you about the awful episode they did on Kendrick Johnson “case.”
Case is in quotes because there is no case as it has been ruled an accident by 3-4 different agencies/groups including the NAACP.
Kendrick Johnson was a black teenager at a high school where they weren’t allowed to use lockers because of vandalism. He put his gym shoes in a rolled up gym mat for storage as a lot of kids did in that school. Unfortunately he decided to reach through the gym mat to grab them instead of picking it up. He suffocated to death.
There was video of two white teenagers leaving the gym shortly after they believe the accident happened. These kids were harassed and called white supremacist murderers. One of the kid’s father worked for the FBI so the family and public were insistent that the Father colluded with local police to cover up the crime.
The family won’t accept the fact it was an accident and keeps trying to sue everyone to make them investigate it AGAIN. Probably due to predatory lawyers trying to get pay days out of them and the media. Benjiman Crump was involved with the family at one point so that should tell you how they tried to play racial tensions up for it.
Morbid’s episode played into all these rumors and speculation ignoring all the evidence and blamed white supremacy for it.
Of course they did, they’re the inspiration for all these podcasts run by leftist harpies. My Favorite Murder did a similarly toned episode on it as well.
They have pioneered the genre of true crime music with a grim aesthetic and songs largely based on disturbing deaths and murders. They have released songs about topics such as the death of Elisa Lam, the manslaughter of Conrad Roy, the mass suicide in Jonestown, the Columbine High School massacre, and murderers such as Gary M. Heidnik, Armin Meiwes, Chris Watts, and Katherine Knight.
Skynd's first headliner performance was at Electrowerkz in 2019 where she dressed in a motley combination of corpse paint and Victorian-styled clothing. Fans were greeted with cups of Kool-Aid as a reference to her song about the Jonestown massacre. Shortly after, Skynd was shortlisted as a Heavy Music Awards 2020 Finalist.
It's things like these that show how self-important these people are. It's not about "bringing justice to victims" or "giving Does their name back", it's about living out detective fantasies and clambering to "solve" a case from a couch so that they can stroke their ego. They think it's just a hardcore game of Clue.I’m glad there is a thread on this now. I have two things to share.
The first is some dumbass podcast reviewer claiming Michelle McNamara (Patton Oswald’s fat dead wife) and web sleuths are the reason the Golden state killer case got solved. Despite the fact that Michelle wrote an entire fucking book recapping the murders and never once even came up with a viable suspect, let alone mentioned the actual killer. Also, the case was solved through genetic genealogy, not by wine moms speculating about the case on Facebook.
The second being one of the most brain dead “theories” about Does I’ve ever seen
Exactly. Every case the Internet touches, they come up with outlandish and bizarre theories. It's things like these that show how self-important these people are. It's not about "bringing justice to victims" or "giving Does their name back", it's about living out detective fantasies and clambering to "solve" a case from a couch so that they can stroke their ego. Absolutely love casefile no sperging about shit just straight facts of the case they also cover a lot of Australian stuff to. Some really interesting cases that I hadn't even heard ofCasefile is a pretty decent true crime podcast. Doesn’t feel exploitative and very no political sperging, read out by a deadpan Australian
Oh boy wait til these people find out about cockpit voice recordings for crashed airplanes.Speaking of that, isn't there a podcast that plays very gruesome recordings?
There's been music about true crime forever. Mein Teil, I Don't Like Mondays, Suffer Little Children etc. There's even been genres like horrorcore, made by idiot juggalo edgelords like this song about the Farmville murders committed by another juggalo dork.Looking up some more background info on the Chris watts case I found out there's a band called Skynd.

I'm not gonna clutch my pearls over it but it comes off as pretty crass. Also the idea of "pioneering the genre of true crime music" is very lol as in wtf lol to me.
Ashes to Ash TV did a "real investigation" on the kendrick caseSince that god awful podcast Morbid was mentioned, I should tell you about the awful episode they did on Kendrick Johnson “case.”

I don't find anything sexy about it, but I also wouldn't say I love true crime, even if most of my YouTube time consists of half listening to the content while working. Can some woman comment if the allure of serial killers is either:
a : ) I can fix them
b : ) Misunderstood bad boys who go against society are sexy
c : ) Fetishising dark, deprave things
d : ) something else?
All of the above?
The little I know about some of the people who write letters to prisoners and fall in love with them is that they often bail on it after a while and move on to the next one. They want the attention of a man who is clearly desperate for it and whom they know is gonna stick to them because subconsciously he may not have a choice. As long as that attention is fresh and exciting they keep in touch. I know that some even send money with letters and promise more for a reply. Is this related?
Oh for sure, me too,. But that's not quite the type of woman/person I was referring to when I made that post.I don't find anything sexy about it, but I also wouldn't say I love true crime, even if most of my YouTube time consists of half listening to the content while working.
At least for me the appeal is the question of what actually makes a person snap and give into the desire to kill someone, why take the risk of going to jail forever for like only 20k life insurance pay out. Just interesting things to ponder.
Their series on the golden state killer is the best retelling of all the events in podcast form. It's better than most if not all of the documentaries on DeAngelo's crimes, even though it was produced shortly before his capture so it's missing some personal details about him that later works have.Casefile is a pretty decent true crime podcast. Doesn’t feel exploitative and very no political sperging, read out by a deadpan Australian.
That’s the dude who claims law enforcement gives him secret info on the Delphi case isn’t he? He makes reconstruction “dolls houses” latest being the Idaho slaughters and his big buck donators tell him that the prosecution should use his grade school graphics during the court case. He's a true crime "sleuth"/major grifter who does 4 hour long nightly shows and has a subscriber base of ~100k. He's a major documentable asshole to his viewers and thinks he's the smartest guy in the room but is actually extremely stupid
