#1 - Vanessa (KOF)
The reason for my top pick is that I really like Boxer-type characters. I remember being a little kid and playing SF2 on Super Nintendo. I never got as far as the bosses in the arcade due to quarter limits and machine hogging, but at home I made it all the way to "Balrog" and he gave me so much trouble. His charge punches did so much damage that I thought he had to be the most powerful character in the game for sure. Since I was a young boy I also thought he was so cool because he was a clear representation of HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD AND GREATEST FIGHTER OF ALL TIME, MIKE TYSON.

Eventually when I beat him and Sagat, I got to "M. Bison" and did a double take...I thought surely that should have been "Balrog"s name. Little did I know at the time that it actually was in Japan. Really wish the USA version had kept the names where they were!

Anyway Vanessa rocks and I also love her outfit. You ever just find a fighting game character you feel totally confident playing, like when you pilot them you are in the zone automatically and you just know for a fact you play 100 times better with that character? That's how Vanessa is for me in KOF

Honorable Mention (#2 I guess) - Dizzy from Guilty Gear
Dizzy is second place primarily because she has my all time favorite character design in a video game period. I haven't played much GG aside from the first one on Playstation and second one on PS2, but completely fell in love with the character design the first time I saw it. Very cool and good. Dizzy absolutely had to be my second pick. I remember picking up GG for PS1 back in the day and just being blown the fuck away. As a kid who just started playing electric guitar and was into heavy metal and all that stuff that game really was a staple of my adolescence. As soon as I heard each stage theme I had to pause the game and practice learning them immediately! Good times.

I love fighting games. I am not very good at them, but I love them.

In retrospect, Skullgirls was a very flawed game and I don't really care much for fighting games, but I'll always have fond memories of pissing people off with Peacock.

Too easy. Shaquille O'Neal.

To this day, I'll often eat a slice of Papa John's pizza, slap an Icy Hot on my back and kick off my SHAQs after a long hard day, and play some Shaq Fu after reupping my insurance with The General. Beating an old Asian man with sorcerer powers to death as a 7'1 NBA player? Not much better than that in life, my friends.

A tie between Athena Asamiya (Athena, KoF) and I-No (Guilty Gear).

Notable runner-ups and former/series favorites are Tachibana Ukyo (Samurai Showdown), Kim Kaphwan (KoF), Sakura (Street Fighter), Kazuya Mishima (Tekken), and Nightmare (Soul Calibur 2 specifically) otherwise Kilik.

Jin Kazama

Used to be because he was the character I could destroy my friends with starting in Tekken 4. Later it was just because I love his design, and his play style is always easy to fall into when I start a new Tekken.

Solomon Grundy and Leatherface. If we're talking original characters, probably Kusaregedo from Samurai Showdown and Shang Tsung.

Voldo from Soul Calibur or Slayer from Guilty Gear XX... just depends on my mood. Least if we are talking move-sets, visually I prefer Slayer tho.

based. i am an armor king kinda guy myself. i first started playing tekken as king, but after understanding armor king's dash he's much more fun to play as to me.
I keep saying I’m gonna try to get into AK. In Tekken 6 I wound up facing him online a lot and getting wrecked. I might finally try with Tekken 8.

tough choice. kokonoe from blazblue, sakura, cammy, and ibuki from street fighter, i-no from guilty gear are all up there. if we're just talking which one i like playing the most probably either sakura or ibuki, specifically the sf4 versions.
marie rose is the cutest fighting game character though

Dan Hibiki. He's literally the only shoto I actually like. His strategy relies on being up close and personal to your opponent which is my kind of play style. Also the fact that he's got this stigma of being the worst character ever appeals to me, because if you give Dan enough time in training mode in order to figure out how to pull some shit, he CAN be a formidable opponent, and it's always fun to see people go "... wait wtf?!" when you beat them with him. I really love his USF4 Omega version, which is a better version of his vanilla version, especially since he also has the same Zanretsuken move that Ryo from AOF/KOF has, which I always thought was a cool move. 2nd favorite is when I use him in CVS2 with S-Groove.

Cliché choice, but Ryu. I don't even like SF that much anymore but I don't think there was a close second that I connected with on Ryu's level. I guess Sub-Zero would be #2 for me. Plus, I was into SF when the animated film came out and that only dug me deeper into that stance.

Honorable mentions: Sub -Zero as stated earlier. Ken, Rugal Bernstein, Terry Bogard, Kyo Kusanagi, Geese Howard, Jin Kazama, Kazuya Mishima, and Shao Kahn.
