The short answer is that she doesn't care for them. They piss and shit everywhere, she's admitted to "rationing" their food, and when they do get to eat it's absolute bottom-tier shit barely fit for consumption. They do not get adequate vet care and she instead opts for shady "homeopathic" remedies. Several of the cats have adverse behaviors attributable to stress; in general, cats do not like living in packs with insufficient space. They get no enrichment or fun. She either lied about Gomez's being blocked a few weeks ago or shorted the vet thousands of dollars for his care.

She's a neglectful, cruel pet owner who pats herself on the back for doing "rescue" work. She does nothing of the sort. Yes, poor people deserve to have nice things, too, but that doesn't include 11 cats who did not choose to live this way.

Hope your kitty enjoys her tubey treats! I love watching kitties go crazy over them.

I saw this but was too enraged to touch it last night.

For reference, my own cat has been dealing with the exact same diagnosis (). At his first appointment when the urethral blockage was diagnosed, he weighed 12.8 pounds (5.8 kg). Granted, he also has feline leukemia, so I try to keep a couple extra pounds on him, but still. Gomez appears to have a pretty solid frame; he should weigh more than 6.6 pounds (3 kg). In fact, the usual concern with neutered male cats is excessive weight.

Gomez is not getting enough to eat, period. I suspect that he's the healthiest appearing of all the Campbell cats, and I shudder to contemplate what the cats she never shows must look like.

I know in my state 2 people under the same roof have to be on different diets eg. I had to specify that my roommate that I'm not married to is a vegetarian and that we don't eat together (which is mostly true as he eats subway, burger King, and taco bell all week... he's a carbatarian) and I eat meat.

On her final day, when we knew it was time to help her cross over, she weighed just under 6 pounds, and I can't stress how absolutely skeletal she was. Her hips and shoulders protruded the most, but you could clearly feel her sternum and spine.

It is absolutely psychopathic the way she prioritizes spending money on maintaining her own massive bulk while literally every other living thing in her household starves, including her husband. If there are any anachans lurking Deathfats for thinspo/fat hate, they've struck gold.

Alabama does not have expanded Medicaid. A friend in Alabama recently tried to get Medicaid, as she'd lost her job and had cancer in the past, resulting in a hysterectomy and lymph node removal. There are only a few programs in Alabama for adults and they are:

• Medicaid for Parents and Other Caretaker Relatives
• Medicaid for Pregnant Women
• Medicaid Plan First (Family Planning Only)
• Medicaid in the Nursing Home
• Medicaid for the Elderly and Disabled
• Medicare Savings Programs - Help paying for Medicare Premiums
• Breast and Cervical Cancer Program

She applied, and thought for sure she'd qualify. They did approve her - for the family planning program. As she's not capable of reproducing, it was a waste of everyone's time. She eventually spoke to someone at the state, and they told her to apply for disability (SSI or SSDI) if she wanted "free healthcare".

Polissa qualifies because she's disabled and she also gets help paying for her Medicare premiums. That's not the case for Joh. The poor really are fucked in Alabama.

The estimate I was given was $950 to $2000, but since I love this gremlin I was ready to pay that in order to save her teeth from cavities and more widespread decay plus any resulting pain (there was plaque build-up on her very back molars that I had unfortunately missed, and I felt horrible when the new vet I recently switched to found it. Thank god for non-chain veterinary offices, the VCA clinic I’d used for years turned out to be failing to notice several issues between both my cats.) I got off lucky and only ended up owing a bit over $800, but that‘s the kind of thing you accept will come up to when getting a pet.

If she lived somewhere that gave two shits she’d be a candidate for immediate removal of all her pets and potential animal cruelty charges. The best case scenario for the kitties and snek now is a quick and relatively painless death.

Yeah, the current estimate for my cat's treatment for urethral blockage is at $3500, and I'm very fortunate because I've been able to do much of his care at home with the supervision of a supportive veterinarian. For example, he was able to come home with a urinary catheter, which I flushed every 6-12 hours and removed myself after a couple of days. Incidentally, if you've never gotten to remove multiple sutures and a 6 inch (5.25 cm) long rigid plastic tube from the raw, irritated penis of a struggling, yowling cat, you've never really lived.

That $3500 estimate doesn't include his prescription food, all the regular food he can't eat anymore, outpatient medication, multiple cab fares to and from the vet, or the days of work we've missed to stay home with him. I'd wager that the area I live in probably has a slightly lower cost of living than where Polissa is.

I realize I'm a little extra, but $320 probably didn't even cover the wages of the underpaid vet tech who worked the nights that Gomez was inpatient. It's disgusting that she appears to feel no real guilt about it. Can you even imagine how horrible and ashamed you'd feel once you realized that your pet had only survived because you happened to run into a particularly compassionate vet? I understand that emergencies happen, but Jesus. Most of us feel weird about being pitied.

Ultimately, I am not angry, because Gomez got the care he needed. If Polissa is telling the truth and he was indeed fully blocked, he survived an event that many cats do not, even with excellent veterinary care. It's hard for me to be upset about that. Bless the veterinarian who took pity on him, and fuck Polissa.

I agree with you 100%. I don't believe she's disabled - she's obese and lazy. I'm sure she feels like shit, but it's because she's severely deconditioned from being in bed all day. Pissa shopped around to find a doctor to give her those precious, bullshit diagnoses and she used it to get SSDI. Alabama has zero control over her being in a federal program and I suspect they're legally obligated to pay for her Medicare premiums. That's $163.90/month. Can you imagine the screeching if she was forced to pay that?

You hit the nail right on the head. Porklissa is chronically lazy, conceited, and abusive and neglectful. Every hour of every day she makes a conscious choice to force the cats in her """care""" to exist in discomfort, if not outright pain, until they eventually succumb and mercifully escape via dying. My own cat weighs 6.6 pounds, and she’s overall TINY. There’s no way Gomez is a healthy weight, unless all of her cats are munchkin size.

I’ll admit, I was mostly reading the info on his urethral blockage treatment and the cost and missed just how underweight Gomez is. JFC. Most cats are so tiny as it is! 6 pounds for an adult male is terrifying to think about.

Those animals are definitely in awful shape. All of their coats are so dull. Some like Luna are even losing fur in areas like around their mouths. Salazar is so tiny for a ten year old ball python. With Dobby, maybe he is just that wirey naturally but I’ve seen his older photos where his coat was a lot darker. I don’t know if the theory that Pissa feeds him cat food on the regular is true, but I believe it. Not to mention Pissa tried to beg for a stroller to take him to places and won’t trim his nails. Bella’s were worse but Dobby’s aren’t much better. Those animals are so sick and underfed. That’s not even accounting for their environment. Polissa’s potential animal control visit is well overdue.
