So here's a little motivation for life after the significant steps of transition. I'm sure you know by now the transition is an ongoing process that never stops.

I started my transition about 13 years ago now. I had top surgery over a decade ago. I've also had a complete hysterectomy but no bottom surgery, and I don't want any.

So I joined LA Fitness about two months ago. I immediately noticed there were no changing rooms in the locker room. Instead, everyone was expected to remove their clothes by their lockers and walk around in the buff or wrap towels on the way to the showers.

I was thinking about this conundrum and realized a few years ago that I would have been mortified. I might have either just walked entirely clothed into the shower or just worn my underwear or something.

But then, why should I when everyone else is free and clear, no matter their body shape? The way guys seem to accept themselves as they are, bellies and all, is empowering. But I digress.

These days I'm at the stage of "I wish someone would". I'm all ready to be challenged and told I don't belong. I'm prepared to throw down in the nude and wrestle like the Greeks once did. Bring it on. I'm not entirely blatant when taking my clothes off, but I'm not hiding from this crowd of strangers. So far, nothing has happened, but I'm ready for it.

It's a good feeling not to feel ashamed or as if I'm lacking just because I don't have a swinging dick. I've discovered that this process is mental as well as physical. I'm still growing daily and feel fortunate as I love every moment. I pray that all of you will someday get there as well.

So the part where it says districts in Virginia are requiring schools to train staff to keep secret gender information - I don't know anything about Virginia but this is going on just about everywhere.

I have observed in some places the training is pretty light on content. Staff will be gathered into the gym or the district office to do stupid ice breakers, watch a sad video of a sad kid who one time thought he might commit suicide, and then maybe a rousing Ted Talk about something vague, but inspiring nonetheless. Then staff get handed a student info sheet to use on the first day of school. Not much is said about it but the idea is, staff need to be aware of our students three-dimensionality so that they can personalize instruction and also keep an eye out for sad fee fees. Anyway, these worksheets ask for the pronouns and "other name" garbage but the kicker is the "When I communicate with parents or guardians, what name should I use?"

So do you see the strategy? If the trainers straight up come out with "we have to keep this info from parents," most staff would object, even the ones who keep that stupid chevron flag in their rooms and offices. News articles and idle talk online make it seem like these trainings are more hard core than they really are. It's more slight of hand, and saying less is more. I'm sure there are some schools or districts that really are all in, but everyone else is going along because that's the current zeitgeist and they think this is just Gay 2.0. Just be kind m'kay?

Anyway, we can thank Eli Erlick for the worksheet since it's right out of TSER which provides material for all the little Safe Spaces programs around the US. Universities training new teachers provide these same resources as well.
