Jesus Christ what a shit opening. Having the ingame music as reference I'm baffled they didn't just ask for an anime original from the Nier composer and singer.

Visuals are also ass. Just seeing that makes me have big doubts Taro is involved much in this. It's such a ... by the numbers opening when Nier could have gotten away with something stranger.

As an aside I constantly have pangs about replaying Automata... though the idea of the second playthrough gives me pause. Replicant I never played, experienced Gestalt via Lets Play and though the world is entrancing, the game itself seemed tedious, I imagine the remake makes combat much better, but is the repetition a pain? Same deal with sidequests?

It's a shame Nier is owned by Square Anus, a company that couldn't make good business decisions to save their lives. Nier is going to be milked to death just like Final Faggotsy is. The garbage anime is just the start.

The writing was on the wall for how bad this was going to be.

Unfortunately, since Yoko Taro did have some part in writing this, there's good odds that it will have a slightly different but somehow still canon ending. That man is a goddamn menace for using every possible medium he can.

They really seem to be adding more scenes on things the game barely touched, especially adding emphasis on Devola and Popola. It kind of makes me wonder if a Nier Replicant anime has already been greenlit.

I was somewhat interested in this show. But seeing this and seeing the animation quality, I'm going to pass. The only anime I've actually watched is Evangelion and Akira, both of them have incredible artwork, so my reference for anime is hand drawn on film. This in comparison looks like unfinished garbage with horrible 3d CGI thrown on top just in case the lack of any shading wasn't enough. The intro music is horrendous and follows the cookie cutter Sawano style, no actual melody or resolving of melody. I thought MONACO was involved with the soundtrack? Or are they legally required to pay some hack fraud to ruin everything with a shitty intro? Reading those comments on the video cement my disdain for anime in general, it's no longer being used as an art form like with Eva or Akira (my only reference), now its just consoomer schlock for people who have no understanding of what good media is.

It would have been cool to have the anime explore some of the previous "loops" but having Adam and Eve means it is the same loop as in the game (unless the Moon Base blowing up also happened in previous loops and it's just rebuilt without the info about them).

They did a bit of the 2b/9s loop exploring in the short story book. Can't vouch for the official translations, but the Replicant and Automata short story books are very good.

The comments really were strange. When I saw them I thought, “are we even listening to the same music?”

I will genuinely never understand the people who enjoy anime openings.

Not exactly Nier Automata, but the only reason I brought it here because it involves comedy-like true ending that somehow begins Nier series. And also planes.


There's bonus stage which will unlocked after 100% completion, which also takes the same place of true ending stage except now you use a Russian jet plane that can only view in combat against JASDF planes.

Note: In Japanese dub, the pilot codename is Scarface instead Bravo in English dub.

All of this because of Ace Combat former staffs. Fucking hell, Yoko Taro.

I tried to watch a TV show the other day and it was awful. I've only ever seen Roseanne and it was great. I tune into this show called Breaking Bad and it's just this shitty After Effects project with a periodic table fading in and yellow smoke. And the music isn't even music. There is no actual melody. It's just a little bit of percussion and a few bluesy slide guide chords. This is supposed to be the best tv show of all time? This is why I don't watch TV. It used to be an art form like Roseanne (my only reference), now it's just computer graphics and nerd symbols.

You are right in my post being clownish and me having no reference point, but all that I've seen of anime is that the majority of it is brainless schlock. I'm sure there are outliers, but this Nier show is not one of them. It's hard enough to find games of value these days, and Nier is one of them, but this anime doesn't seem like one.

nigger, theres only 2/24 episodes out. Let it go on for a bit longer before you decide to crucify it lol. Its supposed to diverge from the game a bit, give it time.

Of course the majority of anime is brainless schlock. I don't watch the majority of anime. Anyone that does is mentally ill. Every medium requires you to do a bit of digging to find the good stuff.

The Nier Automata anime so far has been good but unfortunately it seems it's been put on hold after episode 3.

Depends on how involved Taro is. If he got sidelined hard I expect patchwork shit. If his narrative for the anime is mostly left intact and it's not a rethread, I expect it to at least be entertaining, though it may be a slog till the last few episodes make everything click.
