The PS2 emulation scene is laughable. I love how both Dolphin and PPSSPP so masterfully done compared to PCSX2, which still lags like shit in some games and has most of the same issues it had 10 years ago. One example is the sun in ace combat 4 and the turrets in ratchet & clank 2. At least for the latter there is a patch made by someone which fixes the issue. I just hope that people will copy the OpenGOAL project and start to decompile PS2 games like Ratchet & Clank, Sly and all those games that the emulators can't even think about without lagging.
Not just the sun but also the blacked out silhouette of your airplane in third person in AC4. AC4 has been and remains the quandary for seamless PS2 emulation.
I just transferred data from Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour to Advance Tour using Dolphin's mGBA integration and wanted to take a moment to appreciate how good we have it these days.
Transferring between GC and GBA was such a pain just a few short years ago, involving a specific build of Dolphin and a long-stale branch of VBA. Even when you had these two, you still had to get them to marry up in just the right way. Nowadays It Just Works™.
Mental Outlaw made a video about the AetherSX2 situation, I didn't expect him to.
He does a bit of research into the events leading up to the project being abandoned and concludes that it was because the dev (Telrath) got tired of people asking him retarded questions either answered in the FAQ or easily answerable with a google search. Then ends with a message essentially saying these question asking retards are the people ruining and killing open source.

Excuse my ignorance, but how hard is it to just, you know... NOT pay attention to those questions and to just continue to do what you're doing? Newfags ask retarded questions all the fucking time no matter where you are online or what it relates to.
It sounds lke the dev is just making a big stink over nothing.

Definitely, take Dear Feader and this website for example, if somebody asks something retarded in forum discussion he'll just lock the thread. I wonder if Mental Outlaw took this "newfags are ruining everything!" angle because the alternative would've been to accept the "I'm being harassed and murdered to death by evil people on the Internet " angle hook line and sinker.
Mental Outlaw basically dismisses that in the video by saying Telrath doesn't have enough money to pay them. Of course the obvious question is why don't they do it for free like literally every fucking janny on the Internet but apparently he just doesn't consider it.

To an extent I get it. Especially considering that this is an emulator for Android, the user base with the most non English speakers and retards, it's no wonder he would get swamped with autism and "mi appu ha crasheado kan yu halp mi".
But is it really that hard for people to just ignore things online?
a)
my pspfat model 2, the first type with the video out, the battery has finally died after a thousand years since it came out
it looks like there's a lot of cheap easy replacements online, is there anything super important to know for re-batterying my primary emulation handheld?
b)
how is the world of Android TG-16/CD Turboduo etc? There's a couple of VNs I want to play
what's free / ad supported? I haven't looked into it on the Android but I recall TG emulation was off on its own weird little island for pc back in the day
I'll go straight to the point, I would like a retard proof dump of neogeo roms and emulation files that I can just drag and drop into retroarch (steamdeck to be precise). Does anybody know if anything that convenient or do I have to accept I need to watch arcade emulation guides and make my own shit? Mostly want the Metal Slug games (though if there is any console version that could be considered "definitive", I'd be all over that too) and some of the more obscure SNK fighting games.

Try SNK Arcade Classics too, compilation that came out in multiple volumes on PS2 and I'm fairly sure there were PSP and even Wii version, all of which should work on deck. Probably easier to get one PS2 or PSP ISO rather than messing around with getting arcade emulation working.
Though I can't vouch for "accuracy" of the compilations or anything in case you are autistic and care about that sort of thing.
