Factkin are creepy. Be kin with pikachu if you want but doing it with real people is incredibly weird. Youtubers, (mostly lets play) have a pretty big group of people who are kin with them.

How can you be kin with Thomas Bangalter? Daft Punk only did one interview sometime in the 90s in French. How could you possibly know what you have in common?

If you talk or type like an idiot, you're going to get treated like an idiot.

I don't know how aware of factkin you guys are, but factkin is basically tumblr kin who are 'kin' with a real person.

As an example, take tumblr user hpdgav, who is kin with Gavin Free (of Roosterteeth), Ray Narvaez JR (streamer, formerly of RT), Meg Turney (of RT, formerly of SourceFed), Burnie Burns (founder of RT), and Josh Dunn (of Twenty One Pilots), as well as others. Here is their kin page (archived), as well as their about page (archived)

Factives... is a well documented and generally accepted occurence.

Wouldn't this be more of a classism issue rather than a race one? Upper class usually infers better educated, whereas poor grammar and spelling indicate a lower-educated individual, and last time I checked, there are a lot of fucking white people on the internet that can't type for shit.

While we're on the subject of kins and special genders...

Classism and racism are sort of blurred in many cases; I believe that there was an old book titled "The Hidden Injuries of Class" or something like that from years ago that analyzed it. (When I was little, I used to read my Dad's educational resources when he wasn't looking. ^^; I don't recall all of the book, but I think that it was a good one..?)

There was also a study with brain scans from years back where people's brains "read" fancily-dressed blacks as whites, and thuggishly-dressed whites as being black. I forget who did it. Most racism is just people worrying who will mug them, imho. People just don't tend to be honest about it.

You mean if you dress like a hoodlum, and act like a hoodlum people are going to be more paranoid around you? That's crazy talk right there.

There's something I'd like to know: why is it that being "colorblind" i.e., not seeing people for their race, only seeing them as a person is so frowned upon on Tumblr?

Because then you're not acknowledging their struggles or something like that. Basically, they want special treatment for being something other than a cishet whitey mcwhiterson. Also, they'd have to acknowledge how terrible they are if they start to judge people based on the content of their character.

While I can see "colorblindness" being used to just disregard issues that certain races do struggle with, there are probably also people on tumblr who hate it because they don't want their pee-oh-seas being seen as equal to the evil whiteys. Or something.

"Hey, this woman's kinda hot."

"She's black that's fetishizing!"

"Okay fine she's ugly as sin."

"She's black thats racist"

You could never win.

There's an idea that if you're running a fascist government, it's best to make sure there are a LOT of crimes on the books that nearly everyone is committing. If literally everyone is falling outside the bounds of the law from time to time, then everyone is only in good standing at the mercy of those in power. Piss the wrong person off, have your opinion fall out of favor with the dominant opinion, and they'll surely have something to charge you with and make you an unperson over.

"Cultural appropriation" tumblrs and the more extreme end of the "tucute" trans movement show this pretty perfectly. Doesn't matter how hard you try to get in line with what you're supposed to believe, because they'll change it and you're always in violation of some newer, stupider rule. Makes it easy to get rid of anyone who's on the outs with movement pseudo-celebrities.
