No of course not. He is the originator of Let's play not the no name gamers But this is eomthing that has been constant about his life: he wants to be paid for simply existing. I bet his job performance at the helicopter company was sub par at best and let's be honest most of his Youtube career was just shitting out content. The only time he put real effort in was Project 7 and even that was mostly done by Respect the Pact (the heavy lifting) while he simply uploaded it and put out notice (which I don't consider much work)

TIHYDPs went from these 1-2 hour compilations of the funniest / worst moments of any given playthrough to just being poorly pieced together segments of his streams, with all the dead air and begging included.

The streams themselves being mind-numbingly boring doesn't help things either, no amount of funny noises and clever editing can salvage the trash Dave uploads nowadays.

The cognitive dissonance is fuckin' nuts. It's like Twitter Phil, Streaming Gameplay Phil, and Prestream Phil are all totally different people.

I sometimes feel that "Phil" and "Phil 30 Seconds Later" are two totally different people. He contradicts himself minute to minute. If it wasn't for the fact he has absolutely no self-awareness I'd say he was trying to be funny or cause drama.

I personally agree, but also worth noting that he has been dropping some shorter don’t play vids for minor games. I think the longer videos, while not to everyone’s tastes for sure, give the viewer a good sense of exactly how bad Phil and his streams are. I can definitely see why people would want to shorten them and trim the fat, but I love having the full nature of Phil’s negativity captured. You really get the idea of just how horrible he is at streaming when you get more footage.

Somewhat related, I was looking forward to Outsyder releasing the Elden Ring don’t play, but he has yet to. Last I checked the only one for that game was made by some guy I’ve never heard of who adds shitty Pokémon jpegs to the thumbnails, so naturally I didn’t trust their quality. Does anyone have any other TIHYDP recs for Elden Ring specifically, or have you seen the one im describing and can confirm it’s actually worth the watch?

Aside from the facts that 1) he is taking money from people who aren't competent to spend it, 2) he's taking the money intended to support the welfare of the retarded and defective (actually Phil should get retard bux if anyone does), 3) he gets more than he needs or deserves, 4) that he wastes every dollar he gets, 5) he does nothing of benefit in return and 6) that he does all this while going into debt with no intention of repaying past, present or future creditors--aside from all that--a single daily bounty before the stream with no begging or whining at all and no tipping is a reasonable business model and seems perfectly ethical. Might be a TOS violation, though. Also Phil would never do that.

It's very unlikely Phil is a murderer, and almost impossible that he's a serial killer because he's too lazy and incompetent. But he could easily be a psychopath.

What kind of person feels no qualms about knowingly exploiting literal retards for as much money as they can every day simply because it's more comfortable than getting a job? A psychopath.

He could even settle for a less wasteful lifestyle if he felt ashamed or guilty, but he doesn't. If Phil isn't a psychopath, then who is?

If Phil could push a button that magically put $1000 into his bank account and simultaneously killed 10 people he'd never meet, do you think he'd push the button? I think the only question is how many times he would push it every day--and God help us all if there was a chance to win sweaty man jpgs each time.

It's not the length by itself, it's the fact that Phil himself is so boring and he doesn't cut out any of the chaff. It's half a step removed from just watching plain Phil nowadays. I do like Catroller and Sulfyan, though the latter just edits so well he makes Phil seem like a competent streamer, his Callisto Protocol TIHYDP is a great example, and that's just uncanny and honestly not what I'm here for, but the dude's undeniably a master of his craft.

0utsyder is cool and all, and a lot of his TIHYDPs have been great for entertainment in the past, but the dude is putting up 9 hour videos with a 3 minute intro and not splitting it into chapters, 90% of the time if I can't skip that dumb intro easily, I'm just gonna pass on the video. Scrolling on a phone with a cracked screen is a bitch to begin with. And as mentioned on the thread before he leaves all the stalling and the begging in, which, granted, is Phil's signature nowadays, but it's enough to bore a dude to death. AND Catroller is just compiling the same bits of gameplay into half an hour videos, with none of the inane bullshit. If you were to trim all the fat, you'd really end up with half, maybe one hour of relevant footage per Begthrough.

I understand that it's getting harder to make a good TIHYDP but editors should keep in mind that it's not about showing how bad Phil stalls and begs, it's the extraordinarily awful gameplay we're here for. Sure, the 10 minute map strategy and planning sessions in RE2 Remake were bad as fuck, but they were also extremely boring, and three minutes later Phil is getting pounded into mulch by G-Birkin. Just show us the G-Birkin smackdown, we'll assume it also took him twenty-seven years to actually get to the damn bossfight.
