never understood russias logic abt donbass thing. russia invades ukraine by taking crimea. then as if tht wasnt enough, they begin backing secessionist movements from within ukraine, and cry foul when ukraine wants to prevent these seditious new republics from joining a hostile neighbor that just invaded them. dont get me wrong, if civilians are getting killed in the donbass then thats fucked, but the donbass is a rebel state that wants to join forces with the invader. no nation would put up with that shit. so at what point does russia accept responsibility for the donbass conflict?

Russian logic is very easy to understand and was 100% predictable even a decade ago.
They think the Ukrainians are dumb Russians, the solutions for dumb Russians are multiple, gulags, reeducation, mass murder, you know, until they stop being rebellious scum against Mother Russia and become obedient subjects for the czar.
That territory, all that was under the USSR and the Russian Empire before, is Russia's, so eventually it has to be dragged back into the fold, kicking and screaming if necessary. Sure Russia a bit weak now, but this takes time.
Ukraine has no legitimacy and must be obliterated.
Whenever nationalism happens in the periphery, it must be rooted out and crushed as Nazism, as it threatens the central power in Moscow and has a disintegrating effect that is easily exploitable by enemies such as the US and EU. Both being competitors and enemies of the Russian state.

Really? Defensive NATO declaring war against Russia for a non member country? Sounds like their overstepping their remit.

Although, to be honest Germany making any declarations of war would be hilarious, outside of Sweden and France they are the biggest cucks and the second biggest pussies behind the UK.

Although to be official the declaration has to made at the Russian embassy by an appropriate government sanction. Then Russia just leaving the German rep sitting in the office for five days and cry foul when the Germans attack them, just like the US did to the Japanese so they could have their Pearl Harbour tragedy.

They demanded a referendum with new elections because a violent coup had just taken place and the president for whom they (the east) voted was replaced by Western Ukrainian nationalists who hate them, and the answer was violence in the form of an "anti-terrorist operation" organized by Turchinov. So there's chatter about deporting Ukrainian men who are abroad to go fight the Russians based on Ukraine's request. Chickenhawks in shambles.

Ukrainian men living in foreign countries are required to register for conscription with their nearest embassy. Failure to do so or to return to Ukraine when called up attracts civil fines, currently non enforceable unless they go back home. However if the Ukrainians decide to make failure to register and return a criminal offence they can in theory demand extradition from treaty nations. How likely is this? I think very likely. Ukraine is running out of able bodied men with a population half the size it was a couple of decades ago. We're talking about a country of 25 million people with a lop sided demographic of predominately old pensioners. The young have fled and are likely never coming back, at least voluntarily. NATO countries will soon face a choice of either committing their own forces to the war, which will be wildly unpopular, or forcing 'cowards' to go back home. It doesn't take a genius to work out how this will go.

Now as a migrant worker in Germany I'm sure you have nothing to worry about, you probably won't get drafted along with the Ukrainians in the first wave. You'll just be given a shovel and made to dig fortifications in a forest somewhere in East Germany. The shovel will be your only protection from the Russians. Pray they give you a good shovel.

I haven't seen any major UKR victories in while that weren't literally driving into abandon cities. Russia fell back when Erdogan organised the agreements that Boris fucked up and UKR rolled in unopposed. Russia fell back from Kherson and UKR rolled in unopposed, which turned out to be a........less than good idea.
