PL: A camera crew once came to the operating theatres I worked in, filming some shitty documentary. They were in the way, tripping over shit, and generally a pain in the ass. We were vexed as hell.

This birth is miles away from a 'normal' C-section, which carries its own risk of complications.
The last thing the surgeons and anaesthetists need is randoms in theatre filming them as they try desperately to keep this idiot and her poor baby alive.

There are SO MANY ways for a birth to go south so quickly. And this birth particularly.
Does she really not get it?
Does she not understand that even for a perfectly healthy woman at the end of a perfectly normal pregnancy she takes her life in her hands for those few hours of labour.
We are never closer to the veil between the worlds than when we birth our babies and i don't mean that in a spiritual way I mean it's the closest most women will ever come to death.
Most of us have got a "war story" of the one kid who nearly took us out. The one who got stuck. The one where we needed a transfusion. The one where the placenta didn't fully come out and we ended up in septic shock.

She really doesn't fucking get it. That camera crew could be filming something that will be shared around gore and shock sites for the rest of eternity if it ever leaks.

I feel like she’s looking at childbirth with the naïveté of an actual child. Just because something happens all the time does not make it safe. She cannot even have her anesthesia like a regular woman. Nothing about her C-section is normal. These are all things she should have considered before rushing to get knocked up by someone 3 months into a relationship.

Something I forgot to mention but I know it’s been pointed out even in the best of pregnancies, things go wrong.

A common non infectious complication of a c section is anemia. Given that she’s smaller, she has less blood volume than a regular adult. Therefore she will need to be watched to make sure she isn’t anemic and that if she is, it needs to be corrected.

She’s also not mobile, so blood thinning shots are in her future.

The filming thing has truly horrified me. Of all her bad decisions, this is a doozy. But mama's gotta have dollaz, right? Daddy needs his addies.

The doctors and hospitals can and almost certainly will say no to filming the birth. Doctors who are sued the most are obstetricians. Women believe that childbirth is painful but simple, and don’t understand all the things that can go wrong even when everything is done right. Last thing a doctor needs is birthing a dead baby in a complicated case with most of the country not understanding why.

Just thinking about @Goatchoker’s awful experience, and all the things that could go wrong even if Alex had a healthy baby is horrifying:

The toddler is outside splashing in a blowup pool and falls in while caregiver is in bathroom. Toddlers can drown in inches of water very quickly. Can Alex pull her out? Nope.

Toddlers can be escape artists-they climb over their crib and hurt themselves, or make it to the kitchen and climb on cabinets looking for cookies and fall, or make that but have secretly learned to open and unlock a door and end up in a busy street. Can Alex handle any of those points of failure? Nope.

Maybe she rigs a child harness that she attaches to her chair and they go for a walk around the block. Girl sees kitten across the street and escapes. Can Alex stop her? Can she even yell loud enough to to get attention?

Nightmares in the middle of the night? A diaper blowout? Boo-boo kisses and hugs. No physical activities with your kid like soccer, but can she paint? Color? Do stickers? Drsss a Barbie? Get out pieces of gravel stuck in a matchbox car’s wheel well , which was my task for today. Comb hair, put a bow in?

I mean, there is so much she’ll miss and be unable to protect her from. A minimum wage caregiver is just not going to be that diligent. Her boyfriend is too immature. I don’t know her finances but if shes crying about a single sponsor dropping her, then she doesn’t have enough to pay for a real professional nanny.

I just hope she wakes up from her fantasy life and gives child to somebody who can do it. I don’t know enough about her to know if this is immense immaturity with ignorant delusions, or actual malignant narcissism where she doesn’t care about the baby at all. Time will tell.

There is not a single thing she can do for this child by herself. She’s going to need someone with them at all times until the child is sadly enough become Alex’s caretaker.
