Woo-woo pseudoscience peddlers thrive because there's no really ethical way to empirically test their claims. Some Breatharians (people who claim to never eat and live off nutrients in the air or some shit), for example, are more than willing to have a camera crew document them with a doctor monitoring them. They know the plug will be pulled on the study before they are able to starve themselves to death. Pseudoscience can't be ethically tested because it's unethical by nature. That kind of research cannot get funding, backing, publishing, etc. Even attempting to approach it is like wearing a massive neon sign reading PLEASE RUIN MY ACADEMIC CAREER ASAP. Just like any serious in-depth research about detransitioners, mental health after SRS, frequent comorbities with transgenderism (autism, DID, paraphilias, PTSD from sexual trauma, etc), and so on.
How many times have you heard someone say "There are no studies showing that ___ is not healthy/safe." while eschewing the fact that there are also not studies showing that it is healthy/safe? There may be no studies showing a direct link between obese dykes and FtM troonism, but there also aren't any studies proving that the two are unrelated.
