Texas did not separate from the national grid, it was never part of it. The fact that Rick accurately noted there are two national grids should tell you something. What Pat does not understand is that the grids built inward from the population centers along the coasts, if you look at a map and unlike Fat can locate the coasts you may also be able to locate Texas and notice how far it is from them. (Especially Boston-NYC where the Eastern grid started.) This helps explain why Texas built its own grid. (Though, yes, they are somewhat protective of its status like everything Texas. That also said, grids have nothing to do with why local power outages happen.)
