The Ghostbusters Thread (Old, New, Animated, Whatever)

I love this movie simply because of how extraordinarily shitty the production is.

The director's a cunt who keeps throwing tantrums on Twitter like a child, insulting fans of the original movie(s) and according to leaks got into fights with one of the lead actors, Melissa McCarthy, over the shitty script.

Meanwhile Sony is deliberately creating a controversy to market their shitty movie by removing constructive criticism to make it look like people only dislike the movie because of bigotry while forcing the crew to sign NDAs so they can't say anything negative about it in response to another lead actor, Kristen Wiig, complaining about the production between takes as well as forcing the original Ghostbusters to make cameos by threatening them with lawsuits.

It's just such a beautiful trainwreck.

I always liked Paul Feig before this - he made decent movies and seemed like a chill guy. But as usual, it only takes a bit of pressure and controversy for someone to show their true colours. It's good to know the actors think this thing is a trainwreck too - hopefully they'll issue statements if/when this film turns out to be terrible so SJW sites will find it harder to spin the narrative that it's just misogynistic males who hate it.

This is ludacris. So James is not going to watch the shitty Ghostbusters film, and people are going apeshit over it. they understand that the only people that come out looking bad, are them?
Given their reactions, I think it's pretty clear they don't even know who James is and just want to bash the guy.

Our old friend Dan "PedoDan" Olson is kicking off on Twitter about James refusing to review the movie. I assume that by weighing in on the issue, he's trying to cling desperately to what little relevance he had in the past.

Also love how he says he's not seeing a Woody Allen film because he's a child rapist when he distributed Child Porn.

Yes because insulting the audience repeatedly did such wonderful things for revolution 60.

Waaaaah, how dare people not worship my shitty zero effort ripoff of a better movie.

Seriously fuck these people.

I really want this movie to come out, because I'm looking forward to the salt these dipshits are gonna spew when it bombs horribly.

It is pretty obvious they have no actual good reason to be confident about how the movie is going to do when they're already poisoning the well and screaming misogyny when it isn't even out yet and all anyone has seen is a shitty trailer that looks like it's for a shitty movie.

Hillary Clinton joining ‘Ghostbusters’ female cast on ‘Ellen’
This is an actual news story that is going to happen...

Hillary really wants to associate her campaign with failure this early?

Really? People are bashing James because he's making the right choice not to see a movie they also know is going to be shit?
I mean dude could just not see the movie like a grown ass adult. His whole "But it doesn't look like MY Ghostbusters" argument is pretty silly too. Accept the movie isn't made/doesn't appeal to you and move on. Again act like a grown ass man.

God, reading those tweets from those boneheads reminds me that I really hate it when men try to white knight for women, especially in situations like these.

I have my own reservations about the Ghostbusters movie, and they have nothing to do with "b-buh muh nostalgia" (the only thing "nostalgic" I feel towards the franchise is Real Ghostbusters. That's it) or whatever. And yet, when I even express my concerns -namely, the humor has to be on point and the cast needs to have perfect chemistry to pull the comedy off-, I get blasted by my friends for having internalized misogyny. The hell? Is cautious optimism balanced with skepticism not good enough for pre-hype? I mean yeah, I wish something like this existed when I was a little kid, but that doesn't mean I'm going to blindly accept something that has a 50/50 chance of being either good or patronizingly bad solely out of childhood fee-fees.

Anyhow, I greatly respect James, and I get where he's coming from. I myself have no opinions one way or the other on the new Ghostbusters movie other than my concerns above, but as far as any sort of criticism goes, I thought he came off the most level-headed out of everyone whose opinions I've seen so far. And considering the sheer Chernobyl-levels of toxicity surrounding this movie goes on all sides of the matter, that's saying something.
