FurAffinity is the fandom's equivalent of PayPal. Nobody likes it, people get fucked over constantly, and there's little to no customer support -- people only use it because they have to. The artists who are talented enough to make money off of their art maintain a presence on more places than just FA (SoFurry, Inkbunny, Weasyl, and now Furry Network). Someone whose business is "ruined" since FA is down and has a week-old backup is just as retarded as Dragoneer for hedging their entire business on something as rickety and disaster prone as FA.
That said, as far as I know nobody who is working on/for Furry Network would have access to FurAffinity's source code, so the attack seems coincidental and a link is unlikely. FurAffinity got hacked because... it's FurAffinity.
