During the years of Trump's presidency, the media pushed the narrative that Trump referred to third-world nations illegals were coming from as "shithole countries" in a confidential meeting because one of their Democrat pals said so (yet nothing was ever confirmed). But it was never leaked to the press that a Chinese spy balloon was in US airspace while Trump was in the Oval Office? I call bullshit on that!

No, I have family. I cannot talk to them or convince them on controversial political matters. They have complete trust in the media establishment aside from say FOX news because they were told "it's owned by an evil billionaire". Attempts to try to logically hash it out to them results in them becoming irritated as they attempt to construct various justifications and excuses and dismissals as to why they can continue trusting in the establishment media, and ignore the logical arguments I've made.

I've simply given up.

That balloon had to fly over the pacific ocean before it even got into the USA. Even if it didn't and it came from canadian airspace from a more polar route that is still a shitload of pretty much empty land where there is fuck all and that they can just have the local wildfire people on high alert as they shoot it down.

There is literally no excuse to have allowed it to just invade the US airspace like that. It is a pretty obvious show of weakness by Biden and the US Airforce. What is stopping Russia or Iran or North Korea from also sending spy balloons now?

At its core, it's a failure of middle management. An Air Force Colonel couldn't decide on his own? DoD as a whole shrugs and asks what they should do instead of reacting immediately? Yeah, I know the guy on top is responsible for everything, but most oversight is regulated to peons for a reason. What it shows is middle management lacks initiative to automatically do thankless work. A Chinese spy balloon shouldn't have been news to begin with.
