Theres an article explaining on the lead up to 9/11 that the US attempted to negotiate with the Taliban. In Brussels I think. And the talks fell through. Interestingly after 9/11 their target was the very same country those very same Taliban resided in. And after 20 years of fighting and taking out several Taliban leaders, they were able to change the Talibans minds into protecting US corporate interests.

And we all know what sharia law says about killing those who aren't under Islam's rule, either as Muslims or dhimmis paying the jizya tax. There was a non-zero chance he walks away scot-free and looking like a hero to the Muslim world.

I was watching the attacks as they happened on 9/11. They had several pundits on during those hours following. One terrorist expert said, "Theres no possibility this was a terrorist cell acting alone, to carry out this attack they needed state sponsorship"
