Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association (SFWA) - Nerds protecting nonces

her interview with Obscura, Moira Greyland said that sci-fi and fantasy is all rooted in "weird sex"

This was my exact thought as I read through. The early scifi fantasy authors were all fucking weirdos. L. Ron Hubbard wrote science fiction and had weird sex things with Allister Crowley. Off the top of my head, I'm pretty sure Lovecraft was at least a racist but also a recluse. Maybe they aren't all pedophiles but they definitely do weird sex shit.

Writers are by and large wetbrained degenerates, whores, and/or psychopaths. Usually all three. Especially the kinds of writers who get off on slithering around in these fruity little clubs for two bit hacks who take themselves too seriously.

@Meat Target I notice that you have a quote from Cat Rambo in your OP, she may deserve her own section as one of the biggest cheerleaders/defenders of creepy behavior,

Here's a tweet of her 'yeah butting' about SFWA pedophilia:

At the time of this tweet, she was the head of SFWA, from her wiki entry.

'But it happened so long ago' is a common defense by these people. They still lionize Samuel R. Delany, who is still a SFWA member and frequent guest of honor at their conventions.

Speaking of which, here's another good quote for the op:

"Queer desires forum 1994" They have been doing this shit publicly from the 60s (at least)

NAMBLA is probably the dirtiest little secret the lgbtPs continually sweep under the rug and downplay. The early fag rights movement in the US was unabashedly synonymous with pedophilia and only slowly distanced itself from the likes of NAMBLA because they were bad for PR. Outside of the sci-fi bubble, Allen Ginsberg is probably a more famous example of a writer who continued supporting them long after the other fags stopped.

Lovecraft is a special case, IMHO. He was less a racist than someone who was raised in near total isolation and built his entire personality from old books in his family library. Even for his time, he was seen as weirdly outdated in his views, like some time traveling Edwardian in the wrong century. His "racism" seems to be more of a put on to fit with what he thought the outside world was like, than anything else, sort of like a modern autistic trying to fit into society but basing his knowledge of relationships on a bunch of 70's-era porn films.

He also had some undiagnosed mental illness (likely some form of Tourette's or PANDAS and OCD), with a lot of childhood family trauma making it all worse, leading him to near suicidal depression in his teens. In retrospect, I can see why he and Robert Howard got on so well.

Science Fiction and it's fandom as a whole is depraved and fucked up to the core.

I'll take broad generalization for 500.

Authors outside SFWA exist, as you're surely aware, and I can only wonder how do their fans even tie in to this - "never meet your heroes" and all.

That being said, it's rather disappointing to see sci-fi - a personal favourite - creatives congregating into a degenerate little club. Granted, I've never read most of the authors mentioned in the thread, but still.

Didn't she also make some snide comment about Moira?

Also, I would mention the pedo tech journalist Peter Bright, but I can't find any corroborating evidence that he's actually a SFWA member. He's just chummy with Patrick Tomlinson.

Great job, OP. I'm sure there's more dirty secrets to dig out of this closet.

He groped a woman on stage at a convention.
Here's the video of the incident you were probably referring to:
