Have you ever considered talking to a psychologist about your unhealthy obsession with this forum and strangers online, strangers who didn’t even know your daughter? You might want to get professional help to learn how to cope with grief, anger and how to move on in a healthy way. Your anger is misdirected at innocent people because you wont accept what drove her to suicide in the first place. It’s easier for you to avoid reality by pretending that some website is the real cause of her death because you simply can’t handle the guilt or taking any responsibility yourself. You live in denial. The fact that you are on here telling people to "go in a hole somewhere" is incredible to me. You’re suggesting for people to suicide when you are advocating against that very same thing, that makes no sense. You’re too emotionally and irrationally charged, you’re insulting people and acting overly-aggressive.
Your daughter was 25, not 15, and with all due respect, at that point they are not a small child anymore. I read all your posts thinking that she must have been underage because that’s how you describe her as, a helpless little child that was preyed upon by adult predators, when it turns out to not be the case. They were a fully developed adult capable of making their own informed choices and I don’t believe that any 25 year olds should be babysat by strangers online. Hypotethically speaking, if your grown up daughter had severe autism or down syndrome and needed someone to babysit and monitor her 24/7 then there’s services for that who take care of it IRL, and in that case that would be your responsibility to set up and take care of as you’re her parent. I didn’t give birth to or raise your daughter and I’m not a health care worker so why would I babysit a normal adult?

Ive read everything you’ve said albeit it’s misguided and you are misinformed but I see where your comments come from. I do not see advocating for changes for a safer environment after a tragedy as equaling to anger. This being only a tiny piece of the overall change needed. If you want to be real for a few minutes the health care system is a disaster and needs a complete overhaul. People have to wait months to see professionals when they are in immediate need of help. It’s not just about a single website. I didn’t start this thread but certainly wasn’t going to stand by and watch how it played out without commenting. It’s a bit funny how all comments are directed at me and not the insane comments being direct at first Catherine and now myself. I’m sure it will continue but I won’t be silent because of it.

Every system is fucked and societal failures lead to more suicides and more people desperately needing mental health systems that just aren't available. Of course people look on the internet for solutions. If you want to learn how to put up a shelf you go to YouTube and type in "putting up a shelf". If you've got a strange rash you Google your symptoms to see what it could be and how to fix it. If you're struggling with mental health issues and society is too fucked to offer any lifeline, then yes if you're suffering mentally, you're gonna Google ways to cope. You're gonna Google "suicide" and a tiny proportion of those who do, end up at SS. You do know other suicide forums are available, right? Some way more active than SS. I'm not up to date on whether or not Google even still includes it in results, I think it stopped the ability some time ago, but maybe went back on it?
And dude, you're literally advocating for changes in the law, which will affect far more websites than just SS. Why should other websites have to suffer just because you want revenge on websites you don't like? I am sorry for your loss, sincerely, but nothing is going to bring her back. You getting your "win" seems more important to you. And stop lying about children being on the forum. That issue has been addressed and it's not an accurate depiction at all. Stop with all the hysteria and lies. Grieve, heal, and make sure your other kids can come to YOU if they ever have problems.

I don’t agree with the statement that I am misguided since I did some digging as I had no prior knowledge or information on this case. I obviously don’t know all the facts and I don’t claim to, I was not a part of the forum at that time and my knowledge about the families and members from the past is very limited, but I’m interested in understanding and listening to everyone’s side. From what I’ve read in various articles online and from your posts on here, I got a clearer picture of the situation. I see that you have worked towards legislations for preventing people from being able to guide or assist underaged people and those with intellectual disabilities with suicide, and that’s great, but it wont solve the fact that teens and adults are still going to be suicidal and depressed, and it wont fix the health care system and it’s struggles. From what I can find online, I can’t see that she had any intellectual disabilities in the articles I read nor that she was a minor so I’m unsure why this is being pushed so hard. Wouldn’t it be nice to also push for a health care change and for something that can ensure that people who need achute help will quickly recieve it when they need it the most? I see that you wanted her to be offered help or for someone on the forum to suggest for her to open up about how she was feeling to her therapist, friends and mother. It’s a little odd to me that everyone IRL was aware that she "had her struggles" and depression, so it wasn’t a big secret or mystery. She was also recieving help at the time from my understanding from a therapist and still chose not to mention this suicidal ideation to them. If someone don’t want to be helped, there’s not much you can do. The person must wish to genuinly get help to get any better and lying or hidding things in therapy is not going to achieve that. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I do fail to find anything online about you or the family working towards fixing or improving the flawed health care system that I and others who struggle mentally, have dealt with for years or any advocacy for anything that can help the health of vulnerable people like myself who’re suicidal. I don’t see any help organizations or mental health legislations related to your family.
I’m only suggesting that you should try to seek some professional help if you haven’t already as that’s what you wished someone would have said to your daughter when she herself was struggling. You come accross as angry and irrational to some degree in certain posts and that’s what made me comment on it. Going through a loss of human life with someone who is so close to you is extremely difficult and sometimes you don’t realise yourself that it might be benefitial to reach out to a psychologist.
Nobody is asking for you to be silenced, keep posting if you want. It’s not like you’ll randomly be banned here for no reason like you’d risk on SS with biased admins.

Who was piling the pressure on Daniel to do well in his GCSEs? It's not unknown for kids to commit suicide when exam pressure gets out of hand because of unreasonably stupid expectations.
30 year old woman enagaged to someone nearly old enough to be her grandad. Seems like there might be multiple things wrong behind the scenes here.
Her husband was in the middle of a prominent political scandal. Plus being married to Owen Paterson.
And I'm not surprised Shawn ended her life. She had terrible anxiety, possibly undiagnosed autism. Sleeping and eating schedule being out of whack is a pretty big indicator that a person is struggling. And, on top of that, she starts working for Amazon, an employer notorious for running it's employees into the ground. No wonder she went downhill.

From reading this, I'd say she was obviously struggling and trying to improve her situation. Why not blame Amazon for the crappy way they treat their employees?

Iffywas brings up an interesting point. If I Google 'Amazon employee suicide' my first page are all several suicides between 2023 and 2020 by employees of Amazon. None of them the woman we're discussing. So why not blame Amazon.

To be fair, someone did post some screenshots a couple of pages back, but whilst being informative, they are not exactly the whole context. I would expect the grieving father to have screenshots of absolutely everything. In one of the articles posted earlier it states that the family passed on screenshots to the police of what their daughter had been viewing online. So given that they already knew how to screenshot, I would think every interaction since has been screenshotted. Where are they then?

Meanwhile, people including minors are offing themselves every day. Only a fraction of them will have even heard of SS, let alone accessed it. Why don't these people do something constructive to tackle the root of the problem, instead of adding to other people's issues?

I keep saying that.
Either we make an effort to improve the lives of many, like with healthcare and stuff, or... we coach them into becoming more resilient. If one can, we try both.
While society can change, one should consider looking inward depending on their cause for suicidality.
Having said that, I won't say we should prevent all suicides, but... make it so that it doesn’t have to be a decision based on misery and anguish.
Though knowing how a significant portion of suicidals are, it's better to just demonstrate the idea that once can overcome their suffering (bonus points if your situation is similar to the targeted suicidals).
