Because, to my eye, this looks shopped as fuck.

Zoom in. Really look at it. The light on the poster doesn't quite match the light on the lettering - it's most obvious on the darker, right side of the poster, where the 'graffiti' intersects with the gold of the Harry Potter logo.

The 'dribbles of paint' are far too uniform to be actual paint dribbles from hurried graffiti, but just non-uniform enough to look like someone aping that effect for the aesthetic.

I also question why someone would use a dark colour on a dark background if they wanted to go for legibility. But you might do that if you were hoping to obscure poor quality shoopery.

My tinfoil theory here is that this Redditor did not, in fact, come across this graffiti today, but rather they saw the poster, got angry at being reminded Harry Potter exists but, being too pussy to do anything about it in real life and risk getting caught on London Underground's CCTV, opened up Photoshop and went to town, then posted the results to Reddit as a form of cope for their fellow trooners.

Regarding the Warner/Discovery and the Harry Potter IP: they basically are joined to the hip at this point, as in the 00s, the Harry Potter films made so much fucking money for Warner Brothers that it led to them 100% changing their entire business model as far as behaving like they'd ALWAYS have new Potter films coming out. They increased their slate of movies, including awards bait shit and other non-profitable vanity project films that they released during the Potter years on the premise that the never ending stream of HP films will effectively pay for this uptick in film production, let alone allowing them to negate the number of big and small budget flops, especially award bait flops, they were churning out.

But the studio executives were blind to the fact that there was only a finite number of canon Potter books to adapt (hence why the last book was ultimately made into two films) and when they finally ran out of Potter shit to adapt, the entire studio damn near came a hair's breathe away from bankruptcy and triggered the revolving door of sales of the studio to AT&T and now Discovery. And why the DC Cinematic Universe was blotched beyond all belief: they put obscene amount of unrealistic expectations/demands to force it to replace the gaping budget hole that was not having Harry Potter films to make, especially after the stopgap Rowling agreed to (IE the Fantastic Beast movies) didn't take off.

Now add to this that Rowling has INSANE veto power over the handling of the franchise and the fact that ANY new projects have to be vetted and approved by Rowlings, it creates a symbiotic relationship where Warner NEEDS Potter more than anything else, to avoid being sold off piecemeal by their current owners.

Been to a few Broadway shows in my time and just checked the cost of Cursed Child tickets. There are some $80 tickets available but at most shows tickets start at $100 for balcony seats and go up to $375 for orchestra seats. I suspect the Venn diagram between "People who would boycott Cursed Child for Muh Transphobia" and "people who can afford tickets to Cursed Child" looks like two very widely separated circles.

There's no gang rape in the books, by the way (which shouldn't even need to be said, but even so). The "gang rape" idea is extrapolated from the fact that a) a bunch of centaurs drag Dolores Umbridge off into the woods, and she pops up later alive and b) centaurs tend to be rapey in classical mythology.

So although you could argue for gangrape as a headcanon if you are into that, it's not in the books, and makes very little sense for it to have happened within the plot of the books (would the Hogwarts faculty allow centaurs to roam around near the school if they were in the habit of raping people?).

You might as well argue that any character who is dragged off by another character and then turns up alive in fiction was in fact raped, it's the exact same logic. Gandalf and the Balrog? Rape. Frodo captured by Orcs? Raped. Samwise and Frodo on Mount Doom? Raping the shit out of each other. Tolkien was one sick bastard.

If only someone in Germany had invented the printing press at some point in history before this, so that these "hundreds of years worth of trans lives and memoirs" could have been documented elsewhere, but it was just too much work for all the scribes in 1930s Berlin to copy them out by hand.

Thus the mountains of historical books proving the existence of males living as true and honest women right up until the Nazis came to power, were lost forever.
