I sure as shit wouldn't be able to crawl back to my parents and cry poor with the safe full of guns and expensive tacticool bullshit I have. How many canoes and fishing poles do I actually need for a day on the pond? I seriously doubt they'd require me to sell everything besides the clothes on my back and shit for work, but I'd certainly be paying some amount of rent, bill, and food money someway somehow. Yeah, I agree completely. I don´t think they made him that way though since his siblings seem to be normal. Some parents just don´t have it in them to discipline a child like Dave. I may sound harsh but people like Dave only respond to violence or some other kind of domination. They need to have that fear of repercussions and ultimately ostracization to be on their best behaviour. Re victim: been there, done that. His incredible (literally) story was recounted in this thread a couple of years back:

While reading Dave's story of the cruel indignities heaped upon his totally innocent self by law enforcement and corrections officers, I am once again reminded of how he used to claim he was a rape survivor.

His story was that he was kidnapped off the street by male strangers, taken to an abandoned building, and held captive for several days without food, water, access to a toilet, or the means to clean himself—during which he was beaten and repeatedly raped. At the end of his ordeal, his captors/assailants simply left the door open and allowed him to walk out of their torture den.

According to Dave, he never reported this crime to the police. Nor did he ever seek medical attention, which he absolutely would have needed, had events transpired as he claimed. Nobody missed him in his absence, and he didn't tell his friends about it. He just went on with his life, allegedly deeply traumatized, but never seeking any help whatsoever.

But at one point in his trooning out, he decided a rape story was exactly what he needed to put himself on equal footing to cis women, so he pulled this sordid, fap-fodder fantasy out of his ass. It was an absolutely ludicrous and unbelievable story in every detail, but such is his smug, Narcissistic arrogance, he thought it was brilliant.

This time out, we're supposed to believe all the other inmates felt bad for him, locked in a cell by himself, and that they offered words of support. Which is horseshit, because even if other inmates could see him in his cell, they would have been far more likely to assume he was a pedo, locked in solitary for his own protection. And as a short, soft, weak little butterball wearing women's glasses, he would have been in for a really bad time, had he been allowed out to mingle, or been assigned a cellie.

Whatever true events may be part of his account, this little creep lies, because he's smugly convinced he's smart enough to get away with it. But he's not. He tells stupid lies, spinning narratives that could come right out of a shitty, melodramatic movie.

I am immensely pleased by this new turn of events, and look forward to seeing him get his ass handed to him by the criminal justice system.

As long as the offense is minor enough, most parents are reasonable and willing enough to bail out their kids ... but add a sternly-worded comment that being bailed out will not happen frequently in the future because the kids need to be accountable for their actions and take personal responsibility for their behavior. The same parents would also have rules and boundaries for their adult kids living at home in that the NEET life would be unacceptable; they'd either have to get a job or go to school/training to make themselves employable. In either situation, the parents would expect some combination of money and help with household chores in return for room and board.

People such as D. expect parents to be more like buddies and their idea of unconditional parent-child love has been wordsmithed to mean parents should let their adult children sponge off them without complaint or any sort of rules/boundaries. Sadly, too many parents let their adult kids walk over them and enable their kids' parasitic behavior.
