I'm not going to watch the video in a non-private browser window with my account actually logged in so I won't be able to comment this via YouTube but since we know Jim reads the thread it wont matter.
I've also said this before but I'll repeat myself and elaborate a bit.
Jim, the reason I stopped watching your content has less to do with the trans bullshit and more to do with the compromised integrity that comes with it.
I watched Total Biscuit because he had integrity. Whether you agreed with him or not you knew his opinions and reviews were untainted by corporate/developer influence. They were not bought and paid for like most of games media was at that time and still is today.
When TB passed I saw you as the next best option in terms of reviewer integrity. There is also Yahtzee from Zero Punctuation but thats a different form of content. While you didnt go through the options menu like TB did you still used to be able to deliver games reviews and industry commentary with a unique and uncompromising perspective that was also somewhat entertaining.
Since you began your transition, or tbh a bit before hand, you've sold out that integrity, you've compromised that perspective, in order to tow the troon line. What do I mean by that?
Well lets use Hogwarts Legacy as a timely example.
Your commentary on Hogwarts Legacy had nothing to do with the quality of the game or really anything to do with the game itself. Instead you spent the entire time harping on the fact that the IP is owned by someone who's political and world views you don't like and attempting to guilt trip anyone who does like the game into not playing it. And thats coming from someone who doesnt like Harry Potter media because its cringe and dumb in the first place.
In other words, the game doesnt matter anymore, only its socio-political context. I would say thats what a lot of the "too political" complaints are getting at more than anything to do with capitalism. Personally I've always know that you were on the left side of things and was able to decipher your content through that lens despite disagreeing with it in some ways. I even appreciated keeping rampant pofiteering in check to a degree when it comes to predatory micro-transactions and related business practices. On those things you have my agreement because they negatively impact ones ability to enjoy the video games they infect.
So the question remains, is there a path out of this hole you've dug yourself into, regardless of whether you desire to take it? I would say maybe. If you dialed back the political takes and trans bullshit you might be able to regain some shreds of credibility.
To illustrate what I mean lets use Hogwarts Legacy again.
A more credible way to cover that game, even without completely compromising your political views, would be to open the video with an actual review of the game itself and its game play. Tell us if the game on its own is a good game or not, if its fun to play, if it runs well, if the mechanics are engaging, if the story is interesting, etc. Once you've established those points you can then move on to discuss the games political context and how you feel about it in those terms. Ideally with a clear editing break so people who don't care can tune out, but either way it would be an improvement over a purely political take combined with an unnecessary attempt at guilt tripping.
Hell it would even make those points more compelling for the audience that does care about them if you have the context of the game being good or bad. From your perspective if the game is good its politics are even more of a shame, and if its bad then the people buying it out of spite are even more worthy of mockery.
Alas my gut tells me you're incapable of making those changes, that you're too far gone and too stubbornly dug in to the trans trenches.
If you're going to tailor your content to a fraction of a percent of the population you have no logical grounds to be shocked when you end up left with a fraction of a percent of the audience to show for it.
