Well of course she was not supposed to. She just is Ralph's scapegoat for little petty shit and projecting his stupidity onto in front of his audience. I have been fucking high and forgot to pay bills so stream might not happen, is not an option, because he is being dunked on for being poor... And lights go out in his Mexican rental shack. Lets analyze the sentence structuring.

Notice how all the blame is on May's shoulders. 'She thought she had'...absolving himself of any responsibility for a utility that ultimately is his responsibility as the bread winner. He has a vested interest as well because he needs electric in order to make money.

Yeah it’s really telling how he constantly blames her by calling her “she” when talking about it.

If this happened to me and my significant other I would explain it something along the lines of “we forgot to pay the bill we thought we had more time“. But Ralph is too self centered and completely detached from May and Rozy.

Also, if I forced my wife a newborn baby to go to a Third World shit hole because I fucked up things so bad in America, the least I would do is make sure that my wife doesn’t have to manage shit in Spanish like paying bills or explaining to the Policía why your husband is so fucked up.

Here after a grace period you get letter from Electric company reminding / warning you to pay x amount in 30 days or they will cut service. This 30 days is basically second grace period (dictated by law) that starts on the day letter is received. There is no way a person is "surprised" by suddenly lights going out. Other utility providers also send out txts and automatic phone calls, like ISPs.

I find it hard to believe Mexico doesn't have some consumer protection law in the books that prevents company cut service without any warning whatsoever. Sounds backwards even for Mexico.

Now and his claim of them cutting it right away is weird. That would already be bad business. I would change provider first fucking time it happened. Just hard to believe any company with no monopoly working like that.
And I think 5 dollar notification letters, printed automatically by the system, are good business for those companies

A rep on the phone when he called while the guy was shutting off the power. A rep in their office when he huffed and puffed his way in there. Lastly, his landlord at one or multiple points in this whole process. Now he's going to keep getting bumped to the bottom of every service tech's call list for who knows how many days because he has a note that says "Fuck this fat white pig" assuming he had the money to pay his bill into good standing.
