I'm sure my suggestions in the poll are quite lacking and I encourage suggesting better answers, as it isn't something I have given sufficient thought.

Hatred, or the inability to forgive and see nuance in a situation. I have a friend like this. The man is black and white to the extreme. When I told him about the Ohio disaster, he was mad because a year before, right after the court decision, a girl had to go to another state to have a abortion because she was raped. He didn't even know when it happened till I called him out on it, Ohio, his own countrymen were just bad now because of something he read online. I admit it was fucked up, even as a guy that doesnt agree with abortion, but it was also during a rule change, which is gonna cause confusion.

All of this comes down to his childhood, which was rough. He hates his parents, even though they fed him and put him up for long after he could leave the house due to college. Are they religious and don't like D&D? Yeah. But I remember him before. He seemed happier. I still continue to be friends with him, because I refuse to give up on someone going through that rebellious phase, even though he may be well older than me.

Most people don't have the fortitude when first accessing the internet to turn away from desire. Really, the internet kind of works as a tree of knowledge. Along with what everyone has said, I think one of the major poisons of the soul is willful ignorance and an unwillingness to accept responsibility and consequences for one's actions.
Being willfully ignorant helps put people in the mindset that leads to degeneracy and extremism. And not accepting consequences of actions leads to childlike behavior and stifles personal growth, poisoning the soul further.

Stagnation. Nothing will draw you further into disrepute and tempt you into vice than becoming stagnant. It is good to take a break or to even resign yourself for years at a time from the world but to become stale and dull is to be vulnerable to the worst excesses of the world.

Things that are "spiritually" fulfilling tend to be ones that instill a sense of appreciation and acceptance for one's place in the universe.

So in a way perhaps idolatry or ego is the worst poison, believing that nature is vestigial and the conscious human mind has superseded it.

In programs like AA/NA one of the first and most significant elements is admitting you're powerless over your addiction, coming to accept the existence of some power greater than one's self, and turning power over to them.

I'm not a huge AA fan overall, but I agree with the concept that, as evidenced above, an unhealthy sense of ego is a main feature of the addict/"degenerate" mindset.

So my point is whether you see it as literal or metaphorical, I think being disconnected from god is an acceptable answer for what the worst poison is.
