I will add the mild counter that his laziness, eccentric wife, self-employment stresses, and FIVE fucking kids (I assume you do not have any) do take up a lot of his time. His sleep schedule also forces him to be up at odd times to take care of normal human business.
Could he do better? Sure, but he has a hard limit on his time. He does not have FU money yet to love totally carefree.
If I had to guess, he could probably get an extra 2 or so hours a day eyes out if he got off his bum and organised, but his constitution does not incline him to do so.
I agree that Nick could do much better, though it's pronounced all the more with the supports he has.
It is my understanding that Kayla is not really a burden to Nick (moreso if properly medicated) outside of being an enabler, and she can care for herself and do her part in caring for the kids. The nature of Nick's self-employment afford Nick the luxury of drinking while people pay him so they can get his attention via toasts/superchats/paid subscriptions. They even send lewds of themselves and/or nudes of pornstars. As for caring for children, he has (had?) hired help for some time.
There's also the kids themselves to consider. Many families (especially large ones) are prone to child parentification, where they have their kids look after their younger siblings to varying degrees. Over time this can lead to eventual tensions between the parent and parentified child that last into adulthood, but I digress.
Nick's sleep schedule may be disruptive, but he still finds time for all the streaming he does since Nick has chosen to prioritize that over his health. Not sure what good Nick's prescription meds are when he's drinking during said streams either.
Nick demonstrated that his setup is portable (vacation stream at Hedonism II) and advances in remote learning make homeschooling much less prohibitive than ever for extended vacations with family. Nick also has/had money to burn on a Mustang he doesn't need in December 2022 and holds at least two fairly nice properties (one of which he is shouldering as a burden due to social obligations).
All this to say that, compared to average humans living in North America, Nick has plenty of advantages/opportunities to live as he wants, and while he does have a hard limit on his time, Nick has the same 24 hours in a day that everyone else does, so he isn't at any meaningful disadvantage and since Nick has been doing this for years he
should be organized by now (though it's more likely that he's in a comfortable rut).
The largest burdens Nick has to bear are the ones he's brought on himself.
