Powerlevel here but as the son of an addict, and a former addict myself, I can tell you first hand that addicts who say they're going to change and that they're going to quit, simply do not. There's a very long and daunting process to getting off whatever it is you're on, a process that we all know Lucas does not have the strength for. He's too impulsive and too 2 faced.

By now, the roots of his addictions must be deep enough to the point that they cannot be severed. He literally has nothing else going for him. No dick, no hobbies/skills, no greater sense of curiosity or compassion towards others, just pure self-indulgence. Why wouldn't they just write a reduced dosage script?

If he's been taking RC benzos, there aren't legit benzo scripts at a high enough dosage he can get prescribed that would allow him to taper, and the assumption if they actually put him in monitored rehab is that he can't be trusted to taper properly on his own. Rehab would be so he can withdraw from the benzos without going back into abusing them, or switching into abusing a different drug like fent to cope with withdrawal symptoms.
