Jarvis Johnson and other such commentary channels (but jarvis specifically). Gets millions of views by watching a video, then saying what you just saw in the video in a "funny" way.
Example: Watching a video where a guy takes a shit at Popeye's (the content he watches is nowhere near as interesting): "Yo he just... he just took a shit? AT POPEYE'S?! Wow. Imagine going to popeye's and there's a guy taking a shit."
Every "commentary" channel is the same. They watch a video, then they say exactly what you just saw as if that were a joke. Yeah it was weird that the guy shoved an entire keyboard up his ass. Know how I know it was weird? Because I just saw it with my eyes. You showed it to me.
Someone in the thread mentioned Chris James, the guy that watches dating shows, the one that looks like Quinton Reviews. He's a perfect example of this, too. I saw a few of his videos and thought they were fun, but 100% of the fun comes from what he's watching. Anytime I laughed it was because of what happened on the show, not at his shitty lukewarm takes or asinine jokes. So I just looked up the shows and watched them on their own. Much better.
They're also soft boy leftists that have to insert the current ideology into whatever they're reacting to, and they have the balls to pass it off as humor. Take not-Quinton. He watches dating shows and reality shows from 2000 to 2008, back before PC was mainstream. Whenever someone says or does something mildly edgy he does the stupid reddit "ummm... yikes my dude, wow. That aged poorly. Ooff. I don't like that. *makes an incredulous face"
Yeah we get it. Pointing out "problematic" things in shows from 20 years ago is peak comedy. Get a new shtick.
August the Duck has to get shit on, too. He click baited me by commenting on Cooking With Jack videos and now my recommended is flooded with his low effort shit. He does the same thing as every other cum-entary channel. He also sounds like a lawnmower trying to start. No, he doesn't have a stutter, he has a horrible habit of laughing while pronouncing a word. It's infuriating.
Example: Jack Scalfani puts a pound of green rotten meat into his soup and the video pauses and August pops up "Ohohooo-My God. Di-i-i-i he just put rotten... meat into the the soup? Look at it. It's gre-e-e-e-en. Jack, why did you put green rotten meat into your so-o-o-o-oup?"
Here are two commentary channels I think are alright:
How to cook that: Not a full-on commentary channel, but she hit algorithm gold with a series where she recreates (and comments on) lifehack recipes. Then she shows you how to do a similar recipe that actually works. Like Jarvis Johnson's 5 minute craft videos but without the shitty """jokes""" and you actually learn something.
Chadchad: Zoomer e-girl that comments on videos. She popped up on my recommended and her videos made me exhale sharply through my nose. It helps that she usually comments on multiple related videos at once instead of dragging out one single video for ages.
TL;DR: Yo this dude just took a shit at Popeye's, bro. What the fuuuuuck, dude? At Popeye's? Damn, man. Fucked up, man.
