I'm not gonna speak for them, but In my opinion, I think the failure lies in the fact that a lot of young people in general have no sense of "community". That is to say, no place where they feel they belong.
In US especially, religion is mocked and treated as stupid, without realizing that many good churches, synagogues, mosques, actually provide more activities than just the sermon/service, so you can spend the whole day sometimes "at church" and thus with your community.
Also a lot of after school programs are litterally being slashed away, thus giving children no chance to join groups, and again, communities.
And hell, most people don't even want commune with their own neighbors any more, gonna old fag here please forgive me, I remember when I was younger, the people in my neighborhood would have block parties. Now some 30 years later I haven't seen one in my area at all. How can any child be made to care about where they live when even there own parents can't be bothered too?
The only place left is online spaces filled with degenerates that only want to groom these youths for their sick wants and needs.
In that sense, I feel that's where the blame lies, Because no one is willing to help foster a sense of community, in youths overall, we now have dudes that think they can be hawt chicks and mack on lesbians, and chicks that think they can have teh hawt butt secks with other dude bros.
All because mommy and daddy couldn't be bothered to take Timmy and Timantha to that stupid block party 30 some years ago...
