I don't think Rumble Inc. actually made any of the technology behind Rumble or locals, it's just a bunch of off-the-shelf stuff that they threw together without understanding how to use it. The chat was clearly no exception to that, and has been plagued with problems from the start.

There's probably a really good reason there's no block button in Locals yet, and it's that their chat API just doesn't expose any interfaces that can be used for that functionality.

If you're someone like dim fool and you're making your own little private simp den, that approach is fine, but if you're Rumble/Locals and want to LARP as a billion-dollar tech company, the standards are a little higher and it's a lot more challenging.

Yea, we can figure out algorithmic sets of instructions that produce creepy results. We can command it to use all sorts of data sets that contain things we never noticed or forgot about. We can probably get to the point of telling an AI to create a better AI.

But for a weird, abstract comparison, think about cryptography.

If computers could generate truly random numbers, then you could hypothetically make uncrackable encryption. But computers CAN’T make truly random numbers.. they have to have a seed number that is processed through algorithms to approximate a random seed. If you can reverse engineer the algorithms to arrive back at a seed, then you have broken the system wide open.

I read about a company that used some visual analysis software on a camera feed that was pointed at a wall with 100 lava lamps to generate its seed.

Presumably, you’re never going to be able to recreate the process that was used to generate the seed, so you’re never going to be able to reverse engineer those algorithms. I’m not a mathematician, or a cryptographer, though, so I can’t say any of this definitively. Maybe there are ways.

Anyways, if computers could generate truly random numbers for crypto keys, then that vulnerability wouldn’t exist. You wouldn’t need to disguise a truly random seed.

I could be talking way above my head here, but this is how I understand the bits and pieces I’ve read on the subject. And from thinking about it, even if in practical terms there’s not a significant difference between nearly impossible to crack cryptography and actually impossible to crack cryptography, a high ceiling and an infinite ceiling are profoundly different.

I think he is pursuing a weird legal theory that he can get the SLAAP laws of other states enforced by a Minnesota state court in a minnesota state court case. So somehow the trial will be conducted using Illinois' Anti-SLAPP laws. Doesn't seem likely to me.

Just because a state court has jurisdiction over a case doesn't necessarily mean that state's law applies to all aspects of the case. That would be the issue for a conflict of law resolution under the choice of law provisions of the relevant state. I.e. which state's defamation law applies, since the damages are presumed to have occurred in the state where the effects of the defamation occurred. This could apply to multiple states.

Usually, the forum state's laws and rules would apply.

If there's anything to this other than blowing hot air, it sounds like a Randazza trick.

The fact that the plaintiff apparently lied about what state he's in (for some perceived advantage?) complicates things even more. It seems like the sort of arcane argument Randazza might pull.

The YT videos Monty attached to his affidavit suggest he was legitimately being followed and filmed in the weeks before he left Denver. There is a video from a couple weeks before Monty says he left CO for IL where the description mentions filled dumpsters visible outside his home and correctly guesses he's moving somewhere.

However, there's absolutely no evidence that I see to suggest the people stalking him were Rekieta fans, despite Monty saying they were.

Then he claims in the 02/21/23 filing that he's been a resident of Illinois since 2020, and there are now magically revealed contacts that tie him to the state of Minnesota.

His residency is a critical fact that has to be disclosed in order to help give notice to the opposing party and allow them to properly respond to the complaint. Did Monty forget what state he resides in? Did his attorney fail to verify Monty's address or ask at any point "Do you have any contacts that tie you to this state?"


"Has resided" DOES NOT mean "currently resides" he also fails to mention business ties to MN in the first complaint.
