Resident Evil - Virgin Vampire Wine Mom vs Chad Magnetic Lebowski

It's the Capcom cycle. Produce a couple really good games, then while riding high screw the pooch.

Speaking of it being an asset flip, I think Capcom knew they painted themselves into a corner. With 3make being announced fairly soon after the release of REmake2, they knew that if they didn't produce something that the RE hype would die down, so instead of actually planning out a proper sequel they took the bare bones of RE3, trimmed that down, and slapped a new coat of paint on it.
I think they made up some shit in articles that they worked on it for 2-3 years? lol yeah no you didn't.

It's insane to me that the entirety of the Uptown map is gone from it. It seems like Carlos was supposed to walk her to the RPD right after shooting Nemesis, but it cuts to the train station. Like wut?

They did build new assets for RE3R, but it's entirely terrible. It's downtown section for some reason looks like Reno with neon signs fucking everywhere. The hospital was really good though, I liked that it wasn't just a vaccine pickup and it was fleshed out. NEST 2 can eat my fucking ass with how phoned in that was.

I see that as them staying true to the spirit of Resident Evil 3!

The same pattern Capcom keeps doing for eons.

The new trailer from the State of Play:
Biggest takeaways:
-Mercenaries appears to be back
-Luis doesn't die or at least sticks around for a lot longer in the remake and seems to act as a partner character
-As far as I can tell they haven't butchered Krauser and he still looks pretty good

I still can’t get over how bad the acting is. Luis I still don’t really mind but Krauser and Salazar are awful.

If there's something I really disliked about what they've shown until now are the voice direction and how they're handling Leon.

Leon seems more serious and plain than in the original. Also, Luis seems to be the one making the one-liners and jokes as opposed to Leon.

I'll commend them on this, they've managed to make Ashley more annoying. That's impressive.

They managed to get the looks right but still can't get the right actors for them. I would say it's a classic Capcom move but they should know better by now.
Yup. Krauser doesn’t sound gruff, Salazar sounds like a cartoon parody of a Spanish accent, and Saddler just sounds bad. Luis is decent though. He genuinely sounds like a Spanish actor. And I suppose despite the weird voice change for Ada she doesn’t sound awful, it’s just weird having a voice change between RE2 and RE4.

The voice direction is pretty awful and Krauser is way too high-pitched. Leon and Ashley are basically the only ones who sound fine.

The action prompts being in game instead of quick-time prompts in a cutscene is gonna make all the difference. The knife fight itself looks like it's gonna be amazing.

I'm pretty sold on it now to be honest, though I'm still probably not pre-ordering it. I await the mod boys bringing back all cut content against CapCom's wishes, i.e. editing the female models to bring back some god damn Mikami-tier TandA, or at least some teddy bear panties on Ashley.

The trailer looks cool as fuck, Krauser with knife parries is probably going to be super fun.
Also glad to see they're giving Louis a bigger role! Leon's reaction to his death in the original always felt weird to me, especially considering how little screen time he has.
Louis sticking around as a buddy feels like an idea that might've floated around during the original game's developent that ended up being scrapped, which is very cool to me. I bet a making of this game or a dev commentary would be really interesting.
Anyways my only big complaint is the voice acting. The guy voicing Krauser really doesn't stack up compared to the original...

I was worried they were going to nerf Krauser and they did, he looks puny compared to the original. Why does he have longer hair? It makes him look like wish.com Wesker. His acting is shit too. All of the acting is shit from what we've seen.

With the original, everyone had good talent behind them but gave them cheesy one liners, but it worked. It was Commando, but with monsters. This? It's just too serious for it's own good.

That being said, it's nice the game looks intact. But it might be these little nuances that are fucking annoying that may make it not replace the original. Although it looks like it would be a better companion piece than either RE2R and definitely RE3R.

No I don't want them giving Krauser one-liners with that voice. In fact I hope he speaks as little as possible.
He may as well be a different character entirely.

I want my Jack Tren Krauser back.
RE4R definitely looks faithful to the original overall but the acting will be really distracting when playing the game. It’s not even cheesy like the old games it’s just cringe.
It's too fucking serious for it's own good. Nothing that's been shown has any charm.

"Good to see you, comrade!" will fall completely fucking flat with this potato. There hasn't been a remake I've played in the last decade that made me look forward instead of backward. There's always some bullshit to ruin it.

Again, it looks like the only thing it's got going for it is the gameplay. Not that the story was amazing in the original, but was still very important and the characterizations. It's like (of course) they don't understand why people love the original.

This is something troubling about all the remakes coming out, FF7 Crisis Core: Reunion also had this problem. Do they just pick random people OFF THE STREET to voice characters in video games now? Because that's what it's starting to sound like.
Perhaps they do? I'm not saying they are 100% randos, a lot of them probably do modeling or stuntwork like Dante's VA did... but for the most part you're probably not getting actual VAs, just mo-cap actors. It's amazing what differing tones, aesthetics, and pacing can do. Because something like Silent Hill 2 works because the mo-capped actors were just real people and thus more believable.

Or they cannot portray it, as the past is "not Kosher" in le current year. Once again, I point to the TandA, seeing panties on a grown woman is now somehow forbidden.

It's really anyone's guess why the voice acting is so bad but I would imagine they're getting cheap with the western voice talent and recording directors.

You look at Capcom's main games throughout the mid 2000s to say RE6 and it's pretty consistent and gets even better as it goes on and then something happened in recent history. Like I thought Leon in RE2R was the worst actor in the game. I don't know if it was his portrayal or they just wrote him bad. Overall I thought the acting in it was very mediocre and nothing memorable. Even the hammy shit in RE2 98 was more energetic and interesting. RE3R was more of the same. Jill is just a bitch in it. Carlos was fine. But Nikolai I found was more of a cartoon of a Russian than he was in the original. Mikhail's accent is AWFUL in the remake.

I know this isn't s Sony specific game but they love making characters ugly, less masculine or feminine on purpose. Krauser should be built like a brick shithouse, Ashley should be in a skirt and Ada should be in a dress. RE4 classic Ada is probably the best female look next to RE3 classic Jill imo.
