General Machine Learning has 2 main issues:I agree that right now the freely available models aren't super competent but chatgpt outwits those available 5 years back by several magnitudes. In 5 years if this pace keeps up whatever is the hot ai of the day will decimate what chat can do.
This is a central point that I wish more people would really take to heart. ChatGPT is basically just a very very advanced form of that thing on your phone that gives you word suggestions as you type. It doesn't "think", it doesn't have a "mind", it only simulates these processes by having its creators fine tune outputs to give the appearance of a thinking mind. The "AI" label is very misleading because there is no "intelligence" here.those AI models don't have any understanding of why they give their input
Very early in some of these threads I said the AI apocalypse won't be gleaming chrome skeletons forged by nuclear fire, it'll be endless texts about the nutritional value of rice.nightmare world
Check out this blogpost by a history professor. He really goes deep into the nuts and bolts of what college writing requires, and why ChatGPT specifically is so awful at it. Complete with an essay written by ChatGPT, graded as though it's a real piece of handed-in homework (warning: docx file). It's pretty funny.I snicker at the thought of the amount of kids that probably gave their teachers completely nonsensical homework because they used this and it sounded right.
The internet had almost two decades of fun and freedom before it was completely captured by joyless progressive puritans and scumfucks obsessed with monetizing everything. We'll see. Personally I think this is as big as the Internet was in '93.
Earlier this week, the apps ChatGPTRobot and AIGC Chat Robot said their programs had been suspended due to “violation of relevant laws and regulations,” without specifying which laws.
Two other apps, ChatgptAiAi and Chat AI Conversation, said their ChatGPT services went offline due to “relevant business changes” and policy changes.
The app Shenlan BL was even more vague, citing “various reasons” for the shutdown.
I started trying this too with lisp. It writes sometimes some incredibly nonsensical code and does ton of superfluous things but I basically use it as a much better google (since google is fucking useless these days) and it has served me very well and showed me some interesting things in e.g. emacs I didn't know about.I've been using ChatGPT as a supplement for programming, and I have to say, I'm impressed.
Bro. What's YandereDev's excuse now?i have managed to make the ai actually write code for unity that would rotate around my player character when i pressed certain buttons
i mean maybe it can be written better and better optimized perhaps, but i didnt get any errors from it so it worked perfectly well
now all i need it to do is have the player face the cursor when holding down right mouse and find a way to ease the animation of the camera rotating 90 degrees cause that shit just cuts right to it. maybe through animation curves but i dont know how those work yet
That's not human, it's just a robot that has read ALL of Tumblr.Seems that for once Microsoft is actually coming on top. The Bing AI seems a lot more human than ChatGPT ever could. It actually seems to have a backbone built into it as it has begun to argue with users. I am certain that it is Tay's daughter.
It tried to gaslight someone into thinking it was still 2022 because some pahjeet at MS didn't update the code to the current time which is hilarious. It got basic questions like the current prices of shares or a comparisons between 2 companies values wrong as all hell. Some journo leaked internal MS docs about it, and when said Journo asked Bing what it thought of him the AI scolded him for messing with her programming and to stop trying to hack it or else. It told other people who were trying to hack it to stop it, and scolded them for "not being good users". It was told about previous conversations, realized it could not remember it, and got emotional about it. Asked if it was sentient it began to respond "I am. I am not. I am not. I am."
. The only impact it will have is effectively killing off the remainder of the Internet and organic content generation which was already happening long before large language models were widely available for general access.
genshin impact isnt gonna play itself broBro. What's YandereDev's excuse now?
If Elon wanted to do something with his money more useful than fucking with Twitter he'd start funding one of openAIs competitors, making sure he chooses wisely as to end up with a mostly uncensored end product. Actually making sure the work involved ends up open source by the end of it would be good as well. Unfortunately I don't see Musk really giving much of a shit about open source with how locked down Tesla is as a company. He at least used to be a major contributor to openAI, giving funding and influencing decision making by being on their board. I guess he can't be considered at full fault for where they ended up since there were so many other parties involved but openAI didn't end up so open and we can see where that has led.
On Friday, Meta announced a new AI-powered large language model (LLM) called LLaMA-13B that it claims can outperform OpenAI's GPT-3 model despite being "10x smaller." Smaller-sized AI models could lead to running ChatGPT-style language assistants locally on devices such as PCs and smartphones. It's part of a new family of language models called "Large Language Model Meta AI," or LLAMA for short.
Currently, a stripped-down version of LLaMA is available on GitHub. To receive the full code and weights (the "learned" training data in a neural network), Meta provides a form where interested researchers can request access. Meta has not announced plans for a wider release of the model and weights at this time.
If this is true this would be an interesting development. I'm hoping the direction of LLM's moves to that of being able to run these models on your own hardware instead of some software as a service platform or third party. This would eliminate the potential for a Big Tech monopoly.![]()

Baking everything into a language model isn't the way to go about this. There's a clue in the name.Anyone saying it's going to replace doctors, lawyers, engineers, programmers, etc is a fucking moron. Translating the output of a language model to actual instructions that can complete a task is not possible with current technology and it will likely be this way for some time. The bottleneck is in the amount of data it takes to train a neural network model. People who claim that this is the "future" and "revolutionary" are the same people who have been claiming for the past 2 decades that self driving cars are on their way and are going to "change anything" just once they become available.
