The issue is the bolded part. The conventional war. I wouldn't even last until the first bell stopped ringing if I was put in the ring against Tyson, but I can win if he's tied to a chair and unable to hit me back, and I'm allowed to kick him to boot.

Putin knows Europe lacks the political will to actually hit Russia back in any meaningful way, but he can continue to pick on smaller powers and use the KGB FSB to sow divsion and leverage power struggles. And that's before he got Europe hopeless dependent on Russian hydrocarbons.

Just look at how Crimea went down for how Russia envisions their control of Europe. The idea is supply lines don't matter if most of your forces are insurgents in the country you're attacking. You don't even need to invade or control territory to keep a neighbor off balance.

A situation that IS being remedied, but military production contracts take time to be fulfilled, and ramping up production takes awhile. I expect in the coming months the production issues will be worked out. Really the issue is the EU's Free Loading on its military spending requirements is what caused the ammo shortage in the first place.

But this is not say NATO has NO Ammo. Just not enough for what Ukraine is using it for.

It also helped that Japan had a certain amount of inter war good will saved up. Ignore the whole racism allegations that modern writers like to bring up, a lot of prominent US Politicians, Businessmen, Soldiers had visited Japan before the war, Including MacArthur and Truman, and had an affinity for the country.

MacArthur was a shit general but acted the part of the Conqueror and his leadership style was the perfect fit for the Japanese civil service. He also did things like helped repatriate Japanese POW's which made him popular.

Russia never really recovered from WWII, and its leadership apart from some half hearted attempts by Khrushchev never made any serious attempts to reform the economy. They also learned some crappy lessons from WWII regarding military organization particularly treatment of their own troops.

MacArthur, for his faults was the best fit for post war Japan, with Nimitz being a second best. I imagine if some clown like LeMay was in his role Japan would be a guilt cult clown show like Germany. I read somewhere he did his best to ensure fresh troops were part of the occupation force, knowing veterans of the Pacific would have taken their frustrations on the locals. Delaying the post WW2 Japanese military also enabled Japan to rebuild faster than the two Germanys. Japan is lucky it was able to hold out long enough for that faggot FDR to die as I'm sure he would have happily handed off half of the home islands to Stalin.
