All discussion of the candidates, updates and results should go here

For example- here's a video of Ted Cruz vying for world domination.

Also Hilary Clinton is a crook and nobody should have sex with her.

Discuss

(Note- The title will change as we get nearer the election, previous titles will be archived in the OP)

To be fair, Hillary did win Arizona and New York through very VERY questionable means, so I would not be surprised if the same exact thing happened in California. That being said, it's a really good reason to not vote Clinton for the general election though and once again, a good reason to vote Third Party since I doubt a lot of these people will vote Trump.

Except that none of that was the fault of Clinton in any form. Arizona was due to a lack of polling places, which was because the Republican state legislature purposefully axed 2/3rds of the polling places in the state, and, as a primary, they're obligated to use state sanctioned polling locations for it.

And New York was due to the state's cleaning of of inactive voter's registration from the system, which is a routine process that the state, and many other states, have done for decades. At some point you need to clean inactive records, such as for voters who don't live in the state anymore, and this one fell at an inopportune time, in addition to likely cleaning out voters who had been inactive for only a couple of cycles.

The shit that happened in both those states, along with problems in other places, like Puerto Rico more recently, shouldn't be allowed to happen again, I absolutely agree with that. But it's ridiculous to blame Clinton or the DNC for any of it, since Arizona was specifically the fault of the Republican legislature in the state, and New York the fault of a routine process that's been carried out for numerous decades.

How come that shit happened only with the Democratic party and not the Republican party though?

I guess for a tl;dr, I just don't like that we will forget this, and continue on with the bipartisan/dichotomous arguments/politics (Democrat vs. Republican, Gun Controllers Vs. Non-Gun Controllers, Islam vs Anti-Islam)-- a repeating feedback loop that goes on, and, and on. As W.B. Fucking Yeats said. "turning and turning in the widening gyre..."

I wonder how long we will turn before the cycle is broken.

What needs to happen is a deep introspection of ourselves. Most of us here have one main trait in common: We are all Americans. Regardless of race, sex, class, age, or creed, this is an undeniable fact.

We spend so much time looking at the evil "boogeyman", in our own respective rights instead of focusing on our faults and coming to a common ground to compromise for the greater good of the country. We have no pride in our country anymore because there is next to nothing to be proud of. What I see is a withered husk of a nation destroyed by 50 years of terrible and self-serving leadership, piss-poor executive choices, destructive corporate and counter-cultures and the raping of our national sovereignty for the sake of "free trade" and "international relations".

What needs to happen is for this country to get back to the old ways. As strange as it may seem, isolationism might be the best choice of action for this country in the long run. The world is pretty much falling to shit right now, and one slight wind that shakes up the world economy will fuck all of us over.

I doubt Trump is the answer that this country is looking for, but the depressing part is that he's probably the best candidate we've got right now. We're probably going to be fucked unless this country chooses to take care of itself instead of the world first.

Sadly, that'll never happen. It didn't happen after Columbine. It didn't happen after 911. It didn't happen after Sandy Hook.

People just want to lash out blindly, and they will support anyone who takes advantage of the tragedy with their promises to get back at the threat (but never do anything about it even after they get elected. SUCKERS!). I know the mods are crushing any mention of the way Donald Trump is gleefully taking advantage of this tragedy, but it's the obvious truth nonetheless.

And this will be my last post in this thread today and will take a brief break (if by some miracle that it doesn't get deleted). What happened last night was horrible enough. Not going to spend the rest of the day wallowing in toxic hatred.

I agree with this. We need to stop getting involved with every little thing that happens in the world. Whatever the US touches gets fucked up in some way (e.g. tearing down governments, failing to install stable governments, having "evidence" of nukes, etc.). On thew other hand, we have gone too deep to just stop. We have also become powerful, and no government ever wants to lose power. Isolationism is ideal but is no longer practical. We need to moderate ourselves and our actions and keep involvement overseas to a minimum.

The sad part is, you pretty much have a very good point. It's hard to say where things began to break down for this country -where exactly, it depends on who you ask. Some will say the 60's and the sexual revolution, others will say the 80's and Ronald Reagan's presidency, others will say when Obama first went into office-, but we need to seriously look at our own problems and fix those, instead of going all Leeroy Jenkins on everyone else's for a change. Gun control, mental health, immigration... you name it. We need to do something about all of those instead of just hemming, hawing, forgetting as soon as someone like Kim Kardashian flashes her fat ass on TV, and then suddenly remembering "Oh shit, we need to do something about this!" the next time a tragedy like this happens.

What also matters the most now is that we need a President who has the mental and emotional fortitude to whip this country back into some kind of shape. I don't know if that's Trump, I don't know if it's Hillary. Hell, I don't even know if it's Gary Johnson. The point is that whoever gets the presidency next is going to have some HUGE work to do trying to fix all the messes left behind by not just Obama, but Dubya's messes (and perhaps even going as far back as Bill Clinton), too. They're going to have the most unenviable presidency since Jimmy Carter's, IMHO.

Um... don't the delegates vote on the 25th? Or is that the convention where they announce their nominee?

We must blame any cause or fuss before somebody thinks of blaming us!

America can't go to isolationism again.
Russia and China will just gobble up American allies and interests.

The question is how long can those countries hold out for? They're both showing cracks and are on the brink of collapse themselves (especially Russia). They both seem to be building for the sake of building things and not showing any true signs of progress.

It's the corporate side of things that's the main thing IMO. Your Congress is bankrolled by the rich, those who should be governed are the ones governing and the interests of the people are thrown aside in favor of deregulating anything that might prevent the corps from making even more profit. Any attempt at changing that status quo will be impossible, because of the aforementioned Congress.

America has nothing to be proud of because, in spite of its insistence on forcing democracy on third world states that fail miserably, its own democracy has crashed and burned in the meantime.

America has nothing to be proud of because, despite being a supposed champion of rights, allows American corporations to fuck everyone in the country, and when they can't they go to third world countries and pay the people there even less.

Now, I don't hate you Americans. Not at all, your country has several features that I adore and your entrepreneurial spirit is truly inspiring. But dear god, you need to hang your Legislature out to dry and while your at it, string up their big business backers with them.

TLDR: None of your candidates will fix this and you are all fucked.

Thing is, pretty much every government in the history of human civilization has been controlled by the wealthy, either directly or indirectly. It's not limited to America.

If America goes down, the rest of the world falls with us, ya commie.
