Ukrainian Defensive War against the Russian Invasion - Mark IV: The Partitioning of Discussion

Josh was right about anime....

In Russia there is a new subculture gang of kids called Redan/Ryodan PMC. Naming themselves after PMC Wagner and the anime Hunter x Hunter villains Phantom Troupe (Genei Ryodan). Whose logo is a spider.

These kids got into a huge brawl with Ultras and Gopniks in a Moscow mall because they were made fun of for their love of anime. The movement exploded over social media and even went over to Ukraine where hundreds of kids were setting up mass brawls in the streets.

It got bad enough that the Ukrainian military stepped in and banned the telegram groups and arrested the owners of the groups. They also sent out a notice telling parents to, "Be attentive to your children, maintain constant communication with them, help them understand what is happening, where is good and where is evil. The war is not only on the battlefield. The enemy wants to destroy our country and uses our children to achieve their bloodthirsty goals. Only together can we stop it."

Ukraine has blamed Russia for this movement saying it's a psychological operation.

"At first it spread in the Russian Federation (where else could such a thing be invented - anime-like teenage gangs that consider themselves a private military company and attack other subcultures?)," says Popov. "In fact, this is an anime version of the skinheads of the 90s, who also went shopping and beat up anyone who was ‘different’. Since the Russian Federation has suppressed all traditional radical movements, especially the ‘ultras’ (mad football fans), aggressive young people are seeking thrills elsewhere, showing creativity and trying to imitate what they see in the news."

Also lets not forget Ukraine has pulled their best units off the Front line to go for training on advanced weapons systems in the west. I've heard numbers bandied about of around 30,000 troops in the EU and US training on various platforms from the Bradley to the Leopard. This glacial giving of ground could also be interpreted as Ukraine simply stalling for time and waiting for the mud to go away. Team Z occasionally ponders the possibility but then concludes it can't be true and all the troops Ukraine had intended for a spring counter attack are already in Bakhmut getting slaughtered.

Its very likely a lot of Ukrainian's better units are off the front, either doing training or just recovery/R&R while General Mud makes any massive breakthroughs impossible. And as @daggs points out, while the Russian cost for the meager gains is staggering, remember that Russia is 4x-5x bigger than Ukraine and able to absorb losses more readily.

But keep that "We haven't even sent our best yet" is a common Vatnigger cope point, and may result in the same sort of outcomes.
I'd keep a heavy dose of salt for that.

This fair bit of red ink on the map around Soledar is about 50 square miles of captured territory since December 1st. For the casualties Russia has taken to achieve that, I would be perfectly fine with that outcome if I were in the hohol ministry of defense.

Russia managed to push through some of the geographic barriers, including the river that formed as backstop to Soledar. Not disputing that any modern army would view the death toll as unacceptable, but this is Russia we're talk about.

That seems like a joke, I never heard of it.
I think this is more about IQ and cultural aspects. Read our local vatniggers - probably same mindset has typicall ruzzkie soldier.

Did any of them will change his behaviour due to situation? IDK - lets say they are a tank crew, they have order to go to point X and also they are told that enemy was smashed down by muh mighty iranian drones (imagine that your military is using shit from Iran).

Do they change drill if something goes wrong? No, they will just refuse to accept that some enemies arties are still firing (because officer told them that they will be no arties, so this must be a western propaganda and that BTR-50 forward wasn't blown).
Whatever was said for machismo is I think correct. These people are consumed with the notion of heroism on the battlefield, thinking their resolve would help them overcome any problems, because they're raised on dramatized war movies where exactly that happens. In reality it's more often than not an undignified and meaningless death.
I would imagine the amount of actually competent officers is extremely small. For most army was just a convenient job, they never expected having to fight a war.

The whole myth of "Russia starts slow, but then..." is perhaps just a product of their preparations being wholly inadequate, having to patch shit up on the fly and suffering many unnecessary losses as a result.
They glorify WWII so much, but I doubt they would've won it without Western support which they refuse to acknowledge to this day. Now shoe is on the other foot.
I will never understand the retards making videos complaining about lack of gear to Shoigu and Putin. It's like the morons who got tortured by the NKVD and Cheka who would say dumb shit like "When comrade Stalin learns of this you'll be arrested!". Putin and Shoigu already know, and they don't give a fuck.
It always baffled me. They complain about anything other than being forced into a meaningless meatgrinder to fight the war they don't need to begin with.
The evidence of how little their lives really mean to the glorious tsar is staring into their faces yet they're blind to it. They should've known better, but being sheep that they are, going against powers that be to them is an inconceivable notion. They would rather be used up as cannon fodder than do what's necessary and save themselves.
This serf mentality just makes me sick. It's exactly the fucking problem with these people.

the "Russia starts slow, but when it gets going there is no stopping it!" version is a propaganda meme
how it worked in reality was more like "Russia starts slow, then gets bailed out by external factors or allies"
napoleon basically just suicided his army into a winter that it was not at all prepared to deal with, while hitler got himself stuck in a 3+ front war against the western powers and the ussr at the same time, and lend lease eventually had him outnumbered and outgunned on every one of these fronts simultaneously, all while also doing an almost napoleon-esque overextension way too deep into soviet territory (trying to go as far as baku)

it all hinges on waging a defensive war, and using russias massive strategic depth to force the enemy into overextension that he can not handle for long. none of it applies in ukraine at all.

I wish it was fake...

Here are the kids fighting in the mall. Notice the spider hoodie. If you want to see more videos type Редан in the Twitter or Tiktok search. Also here is the Ukrainian news Telegram talking about it. https://t.me/censor_net/25527

That's kind of hilarious. I was wondering the other day what sort of youth subcultures these times would produce in Russia.
Animefags becoming the scourge of gopniks, would've never seen that coming.

I've heard it mentioned that it's a thing that (IIRC) has been referred to historically as 'Good Tsar, Bad Boyars' or something to that effect. It's why Putin always has other people announce bad news and himself good news- and why the mobiks think his personal intervention will help them.

You're right in that their lives mean nothing to the leadership, so it's pointless.

The Russian military never defeats the enemy. Its always Russia's weather and terrain.
Missing the part of Russians scorch earthing everything as they withdrew back to Moscow and not giving the faintest of fucks of how many of their own serfs perished from starvation, exposure and from the enemy.

Weather and terrain didn't do much against the Germans during WWI who were sitting very pretty when they forced the Russians out of WWI.

That's the meme too, but I think their massive failures and crushing successes back then had a lot more to do with good leadership accidentally finding it's way through their corrupt table of ranks and making it to field command. Zhukov and Kutuzov were beasts. Brusilov was arguably one of the greatest generals to ever live. Even way back in the early days of the empire the Russian army always seemed to oscillate between worthless and unstoppable based on whether the guy in charge earned his spot or just knew the right people.

Still doesn't apply to the situation in Ukraine because generals are basically massproduced bean-counters nowadays.

Vatutin was a great commander too and helped play a role in Kursk and a lot of his strategies were copied by other Red Army commanders, although he gets a lot less recognition because he was killed in early 1944.

Zhukov's overrated. The "victor" of Kalkhin-Gol accomplished nothing:

The USSR was free to constantly reinforce its forces there, meanwhile Tokyo was delighted to see the insubordinate and unruly Kwantung Army taken down a peg.

My personal favorite is Rokossovsky, mostly because not a lot of men were able to withstand the NKVD's constant beatings enough to avoid signing a false confession, and he would then beat the charges by asking them to produce his accuser when he was well aware the man was long dead. He was released from prison in 1940, immediately promoted to a Colonel and given command of an armored regiment, and would later prove instrumental in the planning of both Kursk and Bagration, by the far the two most successful operations of the Red Army.

He also carried a pistol with him at all times and vowed the NKVD would never take him alive again.

I also wouldn't be surprised if places like Moscow aren't being tapped as much because the military-age demographic in their large cities has fled; and everyone left is aged-out, disabled, or otherwise untouchable.
It has more to do with maintaining the facade that this war is not going far worse than Putin's government expected and with retaining internal stability. Russia is a Muscovite state and it will try to draw as few mobiks from Moscow and surrounding area as possible.

The gas ( and oil ) exports is then fundamental to the entire scheme, but it is also true that it has been useful as a sort of soft power, especially into Europe. But now that is mostly gone, they pressed the button and Germany didnt freeze to death. There is no more button
What's more, now Russia ruined its position on the European energy market. This war finally motivated Germany to build gazports and to diversify their gas sources. Something the U.S., Brits, Nordics, and Eastern EU have been telling Germany to do for over two decades. Now Russia will have more competition in the European market full of countries with deep pockets. In China, Russia will have to compete with Gulf States, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan. China not only pays less than Westerners but Russia will have to dump money into building infrastructure that lets them deliver more gas and oil to China.
This means that China will have an upper hand in price negotiations. Russia will probably have to lean on China as its new major export market for gas and oil. All while China will still have diversified sources of oil in case Russia refuses Chinese offers.

They have no other outlets for it and are desperate to vent their frustration to anyone outside their unit. Perhaps in hopes that it will spark a reaction in media or populace and that will in turn motivate government to improve the conditions mobiks are in.

Pretty much. Things did not go well for Russia when it tried to solo Japan and later when they fought war with Poland between WW1 and WW2. They needed to cooperate with Germans to to deal with Poland the second time. Then Americans and winter bailed out Russians when they had to fight their former Nazi allies.

They could have at least chosen a better anime to style themselves after, one perhaps with gangs or PMCs like Akira, Jin-Roh, or hell YuYu Hakusho if they're going to use the same author as HxH. It is somewhat soothing to know zoomers are somehow even more retarded in slavland than they are here.

No matter how this ends up, China is going to come out a winner.

As Russia keep on "wining" they have started to recruit the greatest fighters in the Middle East who are famous for being pro.
I am talking of course, about the Palestinians!
snippet from article:
It is not surprising that they were recruited to work with the Russians in return for paying them salaries because the camp environment is open to such possibilities,” Kahwaji said.

"Palestinian camps in both Syria and Lebanon have high unemployment, and it is not surprising that these things happen."

It is not clear exactly how many Palestinians have been recruited to fight for Russia, but it is thought that approximately 300 individuals have already completed rapid training in Russia and been deployed to the frontlines.

In the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp, another group of approximately 100 additional fighters is reportedly being organized and prepared for deployment to Russia in the near future.

Muhammad Sarmini, Director of the Abaad Center for Strategic Studies, based in London and Istanbul, told The Media Linen that since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Syria has seen two paths for recruiting fighters to join the invading Russian troops.

This is how Israel wins I guess? Convince your enemies to die for someone else's country and then mop up the remains. Truly the work of nazis.
