The situation is weird since the video did not need the first 30 secs and started on its merits and due the review normally. And this discussion will not happen.
I have urge that it was the Esapcist thing more than a yatheez thing.

Jim Sterling left them ages ago. As far as I know, they really have absolutely jack shit. Just go check out their YouTube channel, the amount of views on Yahtzee videos vs. everything else they do is hilarious.

Jim Sterling left because Escapist wouldn't let him yell about Gamergate so he became independent. This is notable because if Yahtzee is trying to realign himself as an openly left-wing internet personality, he's about to get a whole lot of shit from Jim for being a fake "ally".

Most of the EP videos I've seen are either repeating the obvious or some really bad takes. Not Extra Credits tier, but just enough to think that he's a complete midwit.

I love all the weird conspiracy theories that the little TERF screech at the start of the video was written under duress. It's like watching a bunch of kids rationalizing their dad's drunken outbursts.
Just accept it for what it is. Yahtzee was always a liberal. He used conservative politicians as the butt end of jokes even back when he lived in Australia. He's been dunking on Trump since 2015 and did a buch of "take the shot!" comments during COVID. If his stance is a surprise to you, you haven't been paying attention.

The the only thing surprising about the Hogwarts Legacy video is how unfunny and overwrought that anti-Rowling prologue is. This is the point where I'd say you should have the basic emotional maturity not to let a creator's personal views impact your enjoyment of their content, but in this case those views have actively sabotaged the content.

I don't care which way Yahtzee leans, as long as he reviews the fucking game. This intro really disappointed me. If he started the review just at the point where he complains about how there was such a thing as Wizards before Rowling and stops with the terfy nonsense, it would have been a salty review. But regardless of why he did this, he did it and his integrity is gone in my eyes.

I thought he'd actually say anything constructive about Rowling, but he just calls her a terf cunt (with no explanation why, since absolutely no one wants to admit she has never actually said anything serious about trannies), and argues the book is unoriginal due to a base concept of being a school for a special ability, which is beyond retarded and ignores the massive amount of fun world building the HP series had.

Considering the guy makes shit books no one reads and his entire career is being a snarky derivative of the AVGN, the amount of hypocrisy is outstanding.

This one hurts. I was looking forward to the video, expecting him to make fun of the game itself and the fact that in 2023 there is an internet civil war around a video game. I didn't expect him to make digs at either side, just the situation, which is ridiculous enough.

Yahtzee's books are actually pretty good. They are genuinely funny, which is more than you could say about most contemporary "comedy" novels.

I gave up watching it. The first minute was just him seething about JK Rowling instead of reviewing the game, and even when he started reviewing the game proper he was still seething about how other authors came up with the concept of a wizard school first.

If he hates JK Rowling that much then just boycott the game like the unhinged trannies.

As annoying as this is - honestly, it's remarkable to me that Yahtzee (or 'Ben' to give him his real fucking name) is still going, still doing the same old shit he's always done, in exactly the same old way. He has, to use his own metaphor, become his own giant orange bagpipe playing space-hippo from Mars. I guess there's still a career to be made from being the cynical, fast-talking British person online, but you'd have thought the novelty would have worn off by now. He is still playing them fucking bagpipes.

In any case, now that this precedent has been set with this gutless 'J.K. Rowling is a C-word' shit, can we expect him to spend a sizeable portion of his next review of a FNAF game talking about Scott Cawthon's political opinions? Will he be talking about how they were literally covering up for rapists at Ubisoft, the next time a new Far Cry rolls around? 🤔

Everything else on that channel is rooster teeth tier podcast cringe. Its even gotten to yahtzee and the quality of his videos has suffered greatly over it.

After yesterday's episode I spoke to a relative who I know watches ZP pretty consistently. They're a bit more left-wing than me. Remnants of white guilt and wanting to be kind and all that shit but considerably more based these days. To quote, "whether he believes what he said or not, he still chose to say it and the outcome is the same." Not sure if they'll carry on watching ZP. Sounded a bit jaded by the whole thing.

Everyone has either forgotten or willfully ignored that the best political humor comes from levity and absurdity. Just ranting about Rowling being a TERFy cunt isn't humor, it's venting. A better joke would be something like:

"At one point you do a quest to make a polyjuice potion which I assume is based on a real life experience J.K Rowling had with transformative magic, which would explain some things."

Of course nowadays people assume making light of something must mean you're an evil and uncaring person, so it becomes a contest of who can vent and spread fear about your enemy the most.
