This mentality never ceases to confuse me completely. I am completely at a loss as to what kind of worms you have to have in your brain to think posting dick pics, lewds, or whatever online is a good idea somehow.
Can anyone walk me through this? I've never done this, never even felt like doing it, what the absolute everloving fuck is going through these people's minds?
I won't be able to go into as much detail as I would like, but I hope this explains things a bit for interested parties. In short, it's a matter of values. The only common denominator is that these people use nudity as a means to that end. For example:
People who just want attention are happy with any reaction (even disgust). Nudes are a low-effort way of receiving the attention they crave. They may crave positive or negative attention (or do it for the lols), but the worst outcome for them is being ignored.
People who do it privately usually do so based on trust, making it psychologically similar to BDSM in a mild way.
These people tend to value intimacy. This expression of intimacy often leads to blackmail and revenge porn. Still, they test the waters with a kind of private-exhibitionism and for some that's enough.
For people who do so for broad acceptance, it's the same as any other normalized behavior, but with the added
requirement that other people participate to some degree so that said behavior is validated.
These people value acceptance. This is why some can post nudes/lewds brazenly and yet also become oddly defensive about it when challenged. They assume an understanding of the nature of the world and don't take criticism well because it makes
them the weirdos.
For example, this is the way that Nick
knows Christians speak in their homes. He knows because this is normal behavior for him and he seems to think he is still a Christian of some description. Therefore, Nick's behavior becomes acceptable in Christian households and if anyone disagrees, they are lying. Nick can only make his point by projecting himself onto others to force them into his narrative so his behavior becomes acceptable.
He goes on to say more naughty words, but you get the point. Now imagine the above clip, but it's about a sexual kink.
