Internet Historian Appreciation Thread - The best thing to come out of Austrailia since Mad Max (The original, obviously)

Gone Home was the game that heralded the dark age of gaming, it really only comes down to a PowerPoint presentation level of game design and having a lesbian daughter with the "it's totally natural" moralizing part. The blowback against it was one of the things that triggered the event that must not be named, dozens of low effort "artistic" games you could finish in an hour (all with the moral of how hard it is to be the most protected minority in the western world) and the insertion of liberal politics in virtually every game (and sometimes through translating foreign games).

Also glamorizing children running away from home should be punishable by jail time considering how a lot of those cases end up turning.
This game was officially when I got sick of all the lesbian fetishism that keeps getting shoved into things. (Usually used as an excuse to "make up" for any lack of depth; and boy, it hadn't even fucking begun at that point.)
I remember when the sudden tone shift happened and the dissonance between my reaction and the youtuber* playing it was obvious.
I was incredibly disappointed. He was playing along with the epic faith restored in humanity fistbump moment.

*(Yogscast Sjin. Incidentally, a groomer!)

I also hate how it popularized games having those shitty "un-reveal" endings where the twist is that nothing interesting actually happened. Why would you expect that? This is a serious adult story not some dumb video game crap.

Gone Home was like paying 20 bucks for a shitty Skyrim quest. I felt ripped off for getting it in a bundle.

Like it was blatant to. For instance what would those two girls suppose to do after they ran away? Logically nothing good would have come from it. We are suppose to be celebrating these two for ruining their lives? The sister probably would have ended up pimping out army grill or they would have both ended up dead in a ditch somewhere.

This video essentially was a long time catharsis coming to pass as there was a time where you were reamed online for calling out how shit the game was.

That's how I saw it and it was probably not intentional. Broke minors running away to Seattle to live the grunge grrl power lifestyle only leads to heroin and hooking, not empowerment.

edit: I actually liked the game, played it at release and going in blind. The only thing I knew was the "ooh spooky horror game" angle that they had right then and there, but when playing it I didn't believe it would be like that for one second. The fun I had was all about guessing what they were trying to do, they weren't as clever as they thought. Oh no lights flicker and go out while walking down the halls! But I found and read the note from the electrician, in the first room of the game, that said the wiring was fucked and that would happen if too many lights were on. So I turned off the lights when leaving a room.
The "bloody bathtub" was also a saw thing I saw through, then there was a note(or something) explaining that it was just red hair dye they didn't clean up. iirc there were also some suggestion that they would have killed themselves in the attic which would make entering it a dramatic moment. Nah, don't believe that for a second, they wouldn't have the balls for that and Gone Home was not the kind of game where you can expect human models. I still had fun with it.

Who else is doing archives of all of his stuff? I do not have this last one as I swore I had it already saved

God damn, can this Zea-nigger not be such a self conscious wet blanket and pull shit that he considers "not good enough." Literally taking away good food from us bro, god damn

I hope you all bothered to archive his shit.
I make an effort to. If you find something you want to watch and it's gone, tag me and I'll see if I have it.

The channel have been pruned yet again. Only 12 videos not hidden away in playlists, can't tell if anything is missing though.
wait, what? Only 12 Internet Historian videos still up? Or do you mean a separate channel? What do you mean by hidden away in playlists? As in, Unlisted?
