If there is one thing that the trajectory of our society since then has shown, they would have attacked gamers anyway even if the response was simply a measured one. Apparently they are choosing not to believe the stupid vtubers were harassed by the trannies, and are now saying the harassing trannies are the true victims.

Games journalists (especially Kotaku) still consider themselves to be the final word on all issues. And maybe there's some truth to it--if we were to go back and try to study Gamergate, all we'd have to go by is a mountain of tweets and forum posts, or articles written by games journalists. Most people will turn to the articles because it's easy, and there's still some stigma that it's "authoritative".

But the articles are mostly wrong, and are spin-jobs just as bad as the Kotaku article posted above. It's funny to see a complete reversal of Gamergate: One side says, "People are being harassed!" and the other side says "Show us the proof of this harassment." Only this time, we've got pages of proof of the harassment and Kotaku is pretending it doesn't exist.
