Plagued Consoomers / Consoomer Culture - Because if it has a recogniseable brand on it, I’d buy it!

I seriously believe too many people nowadays perceive corporations as people. All that brand recognition, marketing, etc, etc, paid off to humanize what, at the end of the day, is mostly shareholders doing business to ensure an entity pumps out maximum profits. Disney is not some poor dude who made a bad descision and has its entire life on the line because of one box office failure, its a literal global media empire that has its hand in dozens of pies. Yet this sycophant is treating Disney like a homeless guy doing magic tricks on the street for change.

Dubai will exist as long as its oil reserves exist. As a touriTst trap, though, this country is destinated to fail. Everything that is fun is a crime there. Naked women, alcohol, homosexuality (the demography with the most disposable income in the world, the perfect people to spend money on your country), and so on.

What's the point in a place like that?

It reminds me of Qatar, the host of the last World Cup. A gay journalist "died" there in mysterious circumstances. All the edgelords on 4chan loved the news, but what kind of sane people will decide to go on a muslin hellhole like that after this event? Those billionaires sheiks are delusional, their project to be the next hot shit will fail miserably once the oil dries out.
Alcohol is legal in Dubai for everyone who is over 21 and isn't a UAE citizen (I think citizens of other Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia are also banned but that's not enforced since Saudis in Dubai are absolutely notorious). And prostitution is absolutely everywhere and supposedly it isn't hard to find defacto gay bars. Dubai looks like they're doing a lot of investment in solar energy along with the rest of the UAE which if anyone can make it pay off, it's a bunch of billionaire oil sheikhs in a desert who don't give a fuck about the environment or human rights.

I can't imagine how sad it must be to be in a parasocial relationship with a corporation.

Dubai ceased to be "le future richland paradise" after the 2008 subprime mortgage crisis put a dead-stop on all of their inflated property projects, but that hasn't stopped them from dragging on this puerile hollywoodian-like aspirational attempt at enticing people to drop by and spend money, like disneyworld at orlando but in the desert and with tanker trucks carrying your feces off the hotel (which lacks networked plumbing).
They are working on the plumbing atm though.

These ladies getting pooed on.

There is a whole giant topic we can get into here, and involves things like:
  • Supporting small businesses and small business owners
  • Voting with your dollar
  • A sense of helplessness in the political sphere differed to the consumer one in light of the above philosophy
  • Personal attachment to consumption (If a company you identify with goes down, it causes anguish)
  • Consumption and brands as replacement for church, religion, etc.
  • Parasocial relationships with non-human beings (Like @Save the Loli pointed out. Also extends to fictional beings, vtubers, and other constructed people.)
  • Individuals turning themselves into "brands" for professional success/profit

Having a nice desk/work place and room is great for mental health but this stuff is just tacky and awful. Having a good computer, keyboard and monitor is not really a crime just how you make it look that gets like this shit.
Those LED nanoleaf LED things are expensive as fuck for no other reason than these retards buy them.
Is this guy worth watching?

You've said it better than I could ever say it. I also hate the really hypermodern style especially (all in the same Lian-Li chassis) in high-end gaming PCs these days where everything has to be RGB including the PSU, SATA SSD and cable extenders.

IMO, lighting is only good when it's applied tastefully and isn't rainbow tat like seen here and in both the room and PC.
Abomination. I bought a pre-built at the height of the graphic cards pricing disaster and it came with a case that has three RGB fans in front, it's incredibly annoying to see that shit out of the side of my eye while playing vidya. I have no idea how one can tolerate or even enjoy a monstrosity like the one pictured. Fucking zoomers.

In some cases, it's alright. If it's not all rainbow puke and it has some type of slow fading or quiet glowing effect which uses soft colouring IMO it's fine.

But nowadays the high-end PC market and even the mid-range PC market (to an extent) has just been about having as many things as you can in RGB since it makes these types of consumers believe that it's some type of flex they can have over others just like those who buy very expensive clothes even though they look like tacky morons to the rest of the world.

You must be young kiddo if your first IMAX was Ant Man 3. Sub par CG. A waste of the format. At least Michael Bay knew how to film The Last Knight even if the plot was shit, that film blew my nuts off visually even if I barely remember that pipe dream.

Towards the beginning of this thread I posted about Cinemasickness, a man that collects DVD's obsessively.

It also appears he is a mega-fan of The Spice Girls.

Has anyone accidentally consoomed before? I really liked watching Cowboy Bebop on Toonami back in school and recently saw a figure of Spike for sale. I ordered it thinking it would be the size of those little Nintendo ones and it would just sit on my bookshelf. Well it showed up after several months of delays (actually I ordered it at a different address and the Post correctly forwarded, it to my complete surprise) and this thing is huge. His pistol is slightly larger than my thumbnail for a sense of scale. It's painted really well, the hair is super detailed, and so is his jacket, but I can't put it anywhere, it's too large to fit on my bookshelf. I guess I'll just keep it boxed up and try to sell it in like 10 years. I'm embarrassed!

Remember Safiya Nygaard's "I stayed at every Vegas hotel" series?
Here's a new sister-video:
Some highlights:
  • Food Network! Food Network!
  • Foie gras tastes like cheese
  • "Lot of yuzu action on this trip."
  • Gordon Ramsey steak, Gordon Ramsey burger, Gordon Ramsey fish and chips, Gordon Ramsey pub and grill, and Hell's Kitchen
  • Ok, I would go to Bazaar Meats
  • Foie gras cotton candy
  • SHE DOESN'T PLAY THE CRUNCH NOISES FOR THE POTATO CHIP BURGER. THANK GOD.
  • Cake vending machines
I gave up after the Guy Fieri one.
Goddammit I miss Bourdain.

I don't know if that's so much consooming as an impulse buy based on something you like that turned out to be larger than expected, lol.
See, now you have to put it on display to remind you to be more careful when you shop.

if you buy a glass to drink water from instead of cupping your hands you are a consoomer.

Does buying really nice equipment that are specialized tools in something where you're a semi-professional level (as a hobby) count? Like yeah, I could do it with general tools but I'm spending twice or three times the time without them.
No, that's buying quality equipment that's both useful and relevant to the purpose, and will be used.
