Here Bobby compared religion to hobbies. My first question is "what is the concept of 'religion as a hobby' be like?" or "what makes traditionally religion so unlike a hobby in Bobby's mind?"
Some possibilities:
1. "Hobbies are never used to excuse bad actions." -- Obviously a non-starter: think golf courses, safari hunting, or playing the wizard game.
2. "Hobbies should never override logic". -- Doesn't ring true at all.
3. "Hobbies should not involve BELIEF or FAITH." -- we have discussed ad nauseum that almost human action involve belief, but of course Bobby has a very idiosyncratic notion of "BELIEF" and "FAITH". Unless he clarifies it, this postulate leads nowhere.
4. "Hobbies should be perfectly encapsulated; it should not affect the rest of the person's life, especially his world view and politics." This seems to make more sense, and I'm almost ready to accept it. But then if you accept the Feminist-SJW dictum "The personal is political", the assertion that some sphere of your activity can be non-political is simply nonsense. Indeed Bobby just compared Marvel comics to religion -- if he keeps getting political when he praises Spiderman (especially the nigger variety), then I can't see why people cannot get political when they praise Jesus.
My second question is: granting that one can participate in religion exactly as a hobby, how "delightful" will this "hobby" be? Obviously it would suit Bobby's thesis that praising Jesus "as a hobby" is no more enjoyable that praising Spiderman, but the fact is that many people report high satisfaction in participating in religion, much higher than they report on usual hobbies. If turning religion into hobbies reduces people's satisfaction, then what good is it?

Bob doesn't understand, fundamentally, what faith is.
He, like the fedora-tippers, believes faith is a blind, unquestioning adherence to backwards, superstitious doctrine.
However, when you go back to the time of the disciples in the New Testament, faith was a thing, about things they'd SEEN. Peter saw Jesus walking on the water. He walked out to Jesus on the water too. But he got scared and lost faith, and started sinking. ALL WHILE HE WAS WATCHING JESUS JUST STANDING/WALKING ON THE SURFACE. Faith is NEVER referred to or inferenced in the Bible as "blind". He was referring to people trusting the words of people who were there and HAD seen.

Fun fact: Jesus celebrated Hannukah. Not in the modern iteration - they didn't have potato pancakes back then and probably not even 8 days of presents - but the Feast of Dedication mentioned in John 10:22 was basically Hannukah.

There's a website that I remember got shared in the Euphoric Atheists thread a while back called History for Atheists by Tim O'Neill, an atheist who argues against a lot of the more retarded takes of the aforementioned euphorics like Bob.
