Shit like this is exactly why defederated shit is almost impossible to pull off. People who just want to be a part of the community and keep up with others sign up and find out that the site is run by someone who has the op sec of an 80 year old grandma who keeps all of her passwords "safe" in her browser's autofill.
Then they look at a different one and see the owner of that instance screeching "GET OFF OF MY WEBSITE IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT!"

I'm not tech illiterate in the slightest, but if you held a gun to my head, I could not tell you what you should sign up for if you just wanted to be a part of some community and shitpost. (aside from KF itself I guess.)

This is why shit like twitter will never be replaced by this sort of thing. Asking normies and outskirts to keep up with drama like this is too much.

The thing about Tor and other tools the feds use, is that if you pressure them on how they actually got your information and what compromises they have, they will often times drop the charges instead of revealing how they did it. There are more than a few cases now where CSAM producers and hosts were released because the only way they could convict was to reveal how the malware and other compromises worked and the feds didn't see it as important enough to reveal such information.

In other words, they're not going to really push that hard to come after you for saying nigger on the Internet, at least not yet.
