Can someone explain to me why management and talent agencies seem to be behind every V-Tuber? I get why it happens in Japan, there's basically no way to break into the entertainment industry in Japan without them doing all the legal stuff required by Japanese law, but why do Western V-Tubers all have reps, and why does it seem to all be Asian companies? Is it that technically demanding to rig up a V-Tube animation, or is the software all owned by the companies or something?

I know how much of a cut of the profits Japanese talent agencies take, and I have trouble seeing Western V-Tubers on youtube being okay with handing over that much money and control over to a bunch of old dudes in an office in Osaka.

Easier marketing. I see some indie vtuber that still trying to get 3 digit viewers for years. Joining company is really easier for newer vtuber. You don't have to market yourself and just streaming. And if you have project or some sort they have connection to people in various industries. Hololive for example is often collating with deco 27, popular vocaloid music producer.

Well yes, I am aware that most modern youtube talent has a team behind them. I'm more curious why Western V-Tubers are signing with agencies with Japanese connections and Japanese talent management culture, which is fairly controlling and stringent compared to how Western talent agencies operate.

One reason is protection.

A single Youtuber with no network or company backing can be banned or demonetized for anything anytime and he simply doesn't have enough pull o resources to fight back.

Minor correction, Tsunderia wasn't the largest, they were the oldest. They were the first corpo to start in the west. However, they've been floundering for a while due to how pants on head retarded their CEO was. In April last year, they had every single talent except for their latest wave and one OG member leave the company and become independent. And they finally blew up back in January, as you posted.

People had been suspecting for quite a while they were going to die. Beyond just losing members, they were also very visibly losing members of management as well.
