See this is what I don't get. In the US armed forces, you'll frag your commander for just being derpy in the field. How the hell Russians aren't lobbing nades into the tent of the guy auctioning off their bootyholes.... like you have a gun and live ammo, nigga. Just steal a T-72.

Because they don't. Your average conscript ends up spending most of their time with a broom and mop sweeping and cleaning barracks and adjacent territory for a year, and other shit of that sort. Some only get to shoot a few bullets once as a ritual before the oath. Otherwise guns are locked up.
You might get a chance going on patrols/guard duty. But they make sure that abuse victims aren't allowed anywhere near weapons, so going on a shooting spree can be a complicated matter. But they aren't always that thorough, and sometimes victims succeed in their revenge:

i think after the war im going to go there and pick up something as a souvenir. maybe they can rebuild the roads with bones. that'd be pretty badass. a lot of tourists would go see the bone road of bakmut.

War propaganda has dehumanized these people on Russian TV and propaganda channels. So the Russian vatniks are seeing Based Russian soldier rescues kitten and civilian. Meanwhile they're having edited footage being shown to them of Holhols dying or abusing Russian soldiers. The cognitive dissonance is real so many Russians unironically believe shit like Stalin should have killed all the Ukranian Nazis back in 1937. This wars brutality is even making some of the pro Russian people back away a bit, even history legends had a video praising Ukraine. Unfortunately someone should tell the Russians that hearts and minds matter and executing pows only creates Martyr's. But then again Russias idea for solving all of it's problems is punch it, shoot it, blow it up, rape it, or eat it.
The idea of police merely breaking suspects through calm interrogation methods and not just kicking their suspects in the nuts never really took on even in the Russian federation.

PS holds a special place in my memory; I finished IET & AIT a while before every troop had a cellphone or ipod, and PS was the only thing besides our handbooks, TMs, and the Bible which were permitted & readily available when it was time to drop a deuce, while waiting for orders, intermediate-level shamming, or just generally trying to avoid being put on the detail to police up cigarette butts.

I spent a lot of time in the motorpool, on CQ, or in the latrine reading & re-reading PS trying to stay awake. Plus at my first duty-station in Germany, we had a store-room filled with issues going back to the 50's. Over the years I collected some but have no idea where they've since went. Sad.

Same. Back in the day I used to read these out of boredom. I recall learning shit about the UH-60 AH-64 and, M1A1 even though I never used them because of these books. One of the few things the military got right.

Apparently, Ukraine is standing up 3 new Brigades to Siversk, Sloviansk and Chasiv Yar. Not reinforcements for existing units but an entirely separate divisional formation. At least this is if Pro-Ukraine rumor mongering is to be believed. If true, just a quick glance at the position of the Russian Troops around Bakhmut shows they are really exposed to a counter thurst, especially in the Krasna Hora/Soledar direction. The Bakhmut envelopment is essentially a massive Salient in the main Russian Line. The fact that it has been held in place by Bakhmuts defenders for a week now spells serious trouble for Russia. These sorts of envelopment maneuvers have to be completely QUICKLY for a damn good reason.

There's a market for war trophies you know, I have several. Body armor, carriers, uniforms, military id's, passports, blood soaked items, pretty much anything you want can be gotten off ebay if you're retarded or if you know the right contacts. All can be gotten realitivly cheap for what they are. Ukrainian customs in Kyiv is disallowing helmets for some stupid reason but most items don't have an issue. U.S customs doesn't give a fuck as long as it isn't illegal.
